First of all weight loss is meant to be a long term thing(unless you want it to creep back up..with some extra) so I dont think you should do a "low carb diet", that is definately not healthy. Just eat all the food groups and have your sweets and things in moderation. If you deprive so much, you wont go too far along and will just get frustrated. Restricting the carbs will just hurt you in the end because what happens when you lose the weight? Will you not eat carbs forever? So my advice, eat a balanced diet and excersice accordingly. Goodluck to you :)

You can safely loose 1-2 lbs per week. Anything more is just water or muscle weight (neither of which you want to lose).
Think of it this way - 3500 calories = 1 pound of fat. In order to lose just 1 pound a week, you must burn 500 calories a day more than you consume. To burn 2 pounds, you must burn 1,000 calories a day more than you consume. Thats A LOT of calories.
Eat a healthy reasonable diet. Get a reasonable amount of exercise. Don't do diets and exercise programs that are designed in such a way that you couldn't keep them up over the long term. You want to live your life, not diet you life. Good luck.

My trainer says that it depends how much weight you need to lose. If you weigh 300 pounds it is safe for you to lose 50 pounds in a month. If you weigh 115 and lose 20....prolly not a good idea. As long as you are doing it the right way, and not starving yourself, i think you are fine.

Depends on how much weight you have to lose. Healthy weight loss would be at most ten pounds a month.

Low carb diets give bigger results in the beginning like 7 to 10 lbs weight loss. However, the effects do not last. Limit carbs but do not eliminate them. A safe wegiht loss is 1 1/2 to 2 lbs per week after water loss. Remember to drink water during exercise for your muscles. Eat veggies and protein.

Ditch the low carb diet and just eat healthy. By restricting carbs, you are starving your body of necessary nutrients. Once you quit the "diet", it will all go back on anyways.
If you eat a normal, healthy, balanced diet, try to strive for two pounds a week. So that is about 20-30 pounds roughly.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
