That kind of reasoning would just as strongly support a lifetime of devotion to Bugs Bunny. Have you considered that alternative?
I myself find it appalling that you're proud to be narrow-minded.

I also was a Catholic... until I learned how to think properly. It soon became apparent that 'gods' are a myth... ALL gods. (I have been studying religions for over 40 years.)
Like everyone else, though, I had been told for my whole life that Jesus existed. Heck... he's even in the history books. And, like everybody else, I believed it. I just did not think that he was the son of god, did miracles, resurrected, ascended into heaven, etc. If gods are a myth, then how could the SON of god be a god? Didn't make sense.
Then, a few years back, I became aware of some modern historical/biblical reasearch that makes a VERY compelling case for the idea that the Gospels... and Jesus... were a complete fiction. SO compelling, in fact, that it upset a firm belief that I had held for my whole life... that Jesus was actually a historical character.
Now, I am absolutely convinced that Jesus never existed.
Nobody is going to be able to convince you that Jesus never existed in an response on Yahoo Answers... but if you are intellectually honest (willing to question and doubt your own presumptions), open-minded (willing to honestly consider alternative possibilities) and sincerely interested in knowing the 'truth'... you can easliy find out for yourself.
Here is a good place to start... Robert Carrier's review of Earl Doherty's book "The Jesus Puzzle"... http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/richard_carrier/jesuspuzzle.html

If you could prove to me that the Flying Spaghetti Monster never created the universe with his noodly appendages, I would become atheist in a split second.
But since you cannot and never will, I will remain Pastafarian.

Um OK.... who's trying to convert you to atheism? So in saying that, can you prove to ME beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jesus DID rise? I mean really proof... not something you pulled out of a book that was misinterpreted 100 times. If not, then you believe what u want and give atheists the same freedom :)

You are correct. You do not prove a negative, as it's impossible - just like you can not prove that unicorns are not real and that Santa doesn't come to my house every year. Prove those and I will become a Catholic.
If you make an assertion i.e. "Jesus lived, was crucified, and rose on the third day" then the burden of proof is yours. You need to present evidence that shows either that this is true or that it is at least more possible than unicorns.

If you could prove to me that Arnold the Flabby never walked this earth, that he wasn't electrocuted by the toaster, that he did not get up and walk away from the incident, seemingly from the dead - if you could prove it to me beyond a shadow of a doubt, I will discontinue my nightly offerings to Lord Arnold the Flabby and accept reason.
Since you cannot do this and never will be able to because it is not possible to search the entire universe at once for Lord Arnold, and there would be no "evidence" of him one way or another if he did not exist, then I will remain a slave to my Flabby Lord.

If you could prove to me that you are not a talking carp with flashy green scales and a robotic arm to do your typing for me... beyond a shadow of a doubt.... I would become a retar... *coughs* christian in a split second.
But since you cannot and never will, I remain a Nihilist.

1) Proof is always required of those making the positive claim, as deductive logic cannot prove a negative.
2) The existence of Jesus (true or not) has very little bearing on theism as such. Even if he did not exist, there still may be a deity. Of course, you were looking merely for rationalization of your belief, not truth.

You're the typical religious believer...
Where's the proof?
Where's your proof?
???
Go beyond atheist and religious beliefs; DO this:
Create Your Relationship with Our Creator
and have UnConditional Love and Peace in Your Life.
Since it's Your Relationship, You'll never need to prove the Relationship - You just have it...
Can you understand that?

hey jack, proof of burden is on YOU. YOU'RE the one claiming the unbelievable miracle YOU'RE the one that needs to prove it.
We've already got proving science in the bag. What do you have on your side???
Nothing. but an old book that doesnt make any sense and if you had half an unbrainwashed intelligent brain you'd realize the ridiculousness of what you claim to believe in.
