Proverbs 18:20-22 (King James Version)

20A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
21Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

back in the 80's I went through a horrific event in my life that almost distroyed my faith in God and life itself. My heart was so distant from the things of God and I felt as though He and all had abandoned me. I continued to go to church, and did what I considered to be the right things although I didn't feel God and so much negativity came from every side, people were not even aware of what I was going through.
During this time... a couple sang a song, 'Two Winng Hands' it was nice, but, didn't phase me then.
A good six months later one Sunday morning I broke down, closed my eyes, raised my hands and surrendered to our Hevenly Father, I told Him,"I can't bare this anymore!" That's when I saw those 'TWO WINNING HANDS'....

Oh yes I do. GOd spoke the world into existence with just words. remember?? OH YES. and there is tremendous power in our words. Do a study on this and you will be shocked. We can say positive things and bring positive results or we can speak negative and bring negative results This is all according to the word of God.
Even the pshciatric community knows the pwoer of words, but doesnt give credit to the right source. If you tell a child he is stupid, he will believe it, If you tell a child he is brilliant, he will believe it. There is power in words and we all need be careful the words we pick to use, cause words speak life or death into a person or sitatuion. If a person says I will never ever succeed, they wont. IF they say, my child will never change, they wont. BUt,when we speak positive words of confessin, that confess the truths of God as HE speaks them, they bring incredible power and life. Faith is an action word.
There is power in the tongue, thats why GOd warns about it so much. If I bless someone, God blesses me. If I curse someone, God curses me I never heard the song you mentioned, but I know the power of words even in music. I have seen ppl amost lose their faith due to aswful things happening, and a few words of a song, and they are back and on fire again. God uses words and they are mighty, we must see this too and be careful of the words we choose.
Right now, I speak Gods blessing over you to overflow. and expect it to come even more than what it is. God will bring it, becasue I spoke it in the name of Jesus Christ.
God brings victory if we allow Him to. speak the things He tells you to speak, and live them. the rest is just a matter of waiting for the wonderful resuts, more victories from God. amen

Wow, what an awesome testimony. I truly believe God's holy word can work miracles in everyone's life. I was always the kind of person that tried to do things on my own, having faith in God, but forgetting Him when it came to solving my issues. I kept thinking to myself, "why do I keep having to trip and fall??" It has only been in the last year that I have decided to only consult God and his word when trying to make a decision or correct a wrong. I read this "life application explanation" in my bible for Romans 5:20, and I love the image that comes to my mind: "As a sinner, separated from God, you see his law from below, as a ladder to be climbed to get to God. Perhaps you have repeatedly tried to climb it, only to fall to the ground every time you have advanced one or two rungs. Or perhaps the sheer height of the ladder seems so overwhelming that you have never even started up. In either case, what relief you should feel to see Jesus offering with open arms to lift you above the ladder of the law, to take you directly to God! Once Jesus lifts you into God's presence, you are free to obey-out of love, not necessity, and through God's power, not your own. You know that if you stumble, you will not fall back to the ground. Instead, you will be caught and held in Christ's loving arms." I read this anytime I feel like I am losing control, or running out of steam. Anyway, I hope this can encourage you too. God Bless!!

Amen Sis. Gods Word has great power when spoken by a believer in faith.
I use to travel around 1980 to 84 then on and off with a local group from Ft Worth, TX. and play guitar for them.

We done many wonderful concerts with the Hinsons, Hemphills, Cooks, Cathedral Boys, Florida Boys, on and on the list goes. You took me back.
I sing that song still today, "Two Winning Hands." My kids still ask me to sing it for them and all they listen to is this new stuff and praise and worship.
There is something about those old songs that have substance to them.

Gods Word is powerful whether spoken softy, meditated on in the heart, or sung aloud.

Yes I do if it wasnt for the comforting and reassurance of the Words of God and the christians who have helped push me through the toughest time in my life....I have been through many bad times but nothing will ever compare to having a baby born still or a baby born alive and you hve to hold them till the pass from this world.....God is so amazing and though bad things happen He is always there ready for you to ask for his nail scarred hands to help pick you up and hold you and guide you...He never forces himself on you and that is more than I can say about some others

God spoke this universe into existance, by His word! Never take words lightly. It means a lot.

Holy Scripture says "God's Word never returns void".

I know of a man who gave his heart to Jesus after hearing a talkative drunk, regergitating a sermon he had heard, while unable to stand due to booze.

Don't use your imperfections as an excuse to dispbey the great commission. Jesus commanded that we go, and tell others the "good news"!

God's words of life are effective in saving lost souls, even when quoted by an unbeliever; but we can not ever please Him without FAITH!

To get prayer (words) answered, we must not come to him with "dirty hands" (continuing sin), and we must believe to receive!!!

The Bible itself says "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12)

We must use words carefully however, both death and life can result from them. In fact James 3:6 says And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. (KJV)

Yes! As my mom says she believes the word of God to be supernatural- she has seen it take effect in her life so many times in her past-- and continues to! When we use the word of God, apply it to our lives, we see God work! And the Bible tells us in Ephesians it is the SWORD of the Spirit! It is our WEAPON against the enemy!
Yes it is alive and active just as Hebrews 4 says, and we should not only apply it to our lives but PRAY IT over our lives- circumstances, people- whatever you name it-- the word of God is indeed POWERFUL!

Yes. The words we speak have the power to bless or to curse. It is also true that what is in the heart will eventually find it's way out of the mouth.

I do believe in the word of God, sometimes you can feed off of it right then and then it is like a seed and it will grow in you and then at God's appointed time it will bring forth it's fruit when you need it the most and it is so sweet to feed upon. Thanks for your encouraging word and thoughts.
