I believe very much in homeschooling; however, I don't think it'll solve your problem here. Homeschooling for high school requires a LOT of self-motivation, a LOT of self-discipline. You seem to want to homeschool because you are afraid of something new. Just because you're afraid, though, doesn't mean you should avoid the situation. You've probably built it up in your head far bigger than it needs to be. Work on dealing with this. Not to mention, go see a doctor about your sleep problems if they started before you were stressing about school.

Just take it one step at a time, you'll be fine.

If you homeschool, you're going to need a lot of self-discipline. I don't know why you failed and dropped out in the first place, but if it's because you were lazy about schoolwork, homeschooling probably wouldn't work out so well.
However, if you are really willing to work hard, I think homeschooling might be a good idea. You would probably get more time to sleep, and you might even be able to catch up to the grade you're supposed to be in, if you work really hard. Until you decide what to do, keep going to the school you're registered for (you can always quit mid-year if you decide to). And I would say, at least tell your parents that you're thinking about this and see what they say.

It sounds like you should try homeschooling. Sometimes it's just the best thing for some people. I am currently in home school (I'm in 9th grade) for some different reasons and even through you miss out on the social experience it still has a lot of great aspects to it. For example you can get the entire school year done in about half (or less) of the time it takes in normal school because it is all on your own time and you don't have to sit through lessons. I am currently enrolled in Laurel Springs Home school and I think it works great for my current situation. You can email me if you have any other questions.

WORST case scenario - YOU are doing drugs!! yes???

Go to the doctor as well for a check up. Maybe your hormones are in a snit!

If doing drugs, quit NOW and get your life in order. I can speak with authority, since i have a son in rehab as we speak.

AND Go to the doctor as well for a check up. Maybe your hormones are in a snit!

So, now, if your parents both are at work, and I guess that is the case, who is going to watch that you get taught (via DVDs or books or whatever) during the day? Plus it costs!

I home school my 10th grader, and it takes me about an hour or more of prep, and then 2 hours of daytime interaction, him and me! Then I go over the 'home' work and we talk about the errors and the good bits. I LOVE IT, He is a nice fellow. We are going on field trips (sometimes that is just shopping and visiting an old lady in a rest home!) and doing extra-scholastic stuff that make a family/educational environment.

Talk to your folks and see if you can get some counselling and help for your sleep problems.

Home schooling would mean your parents would have to be able to teach you. Probably too late to do it this year.

Try to look at it as an opportunity to make new friends. Not much help, but it might. I went through school with pretty much no friends. Less distractions that way - lol - and I was able to concentrate on learning.

Good luck.
