Now if you were willing to cut back and diet even just a little bit then you would have to exercise so much. Even if you gave up 1 treat a day or took just a smaller portion at one of your meals it would help greatly.
I don't "diet" but I have switched from whole milk to skim milk and no longer eat white flour breads but eat products that have 100% whole grain or 100% whole wheat on the label and just those 2 changes have made a big difference.
I don't give up anything that I like but the calorie and fat savings from just those 2 changes allows me a bit of leway in my food. Try just those 2 changes and you will see and fell a difference.
Add exercise into your life. It doesn't have to be anything really big, just dancing around the house, walk around the mall twice before shopping or playing with your dog if you have one. Without dieting the only way to really lose weight is by moving your body more any way you can.

I can see why you consider Diet to be a dirty word. In a way, that's why a lot of people can't keep weight off. They start feeling deprived and then they eventually binge.
Get the stuff that's bad for you out of the house so you won't be tempted to eat it. Bring in lots of good stuff. Start eating lots of small meals around the clock rather than a few big ones so you won't really get hungry and pig out. Keep fresh fruits and vegetables for snacks.
Drink more water, and exercise. Even a short walk every day will help.

You don't have to go on a diet, per say, you just have to burn the calories that you have consumed during the day. If you take in a lot of calories you have to work out harder at the end of the day. Plenty of exercise never hurt anyone, I'm not a big fan of running (unless its a sport), so personally I would suggest cycling, daily. I just bought a super sweet indoor spin bike today.
