And doctors (in the UK)?
Yes or no. No lectures about drugs please, one is just curious.

The Royal College of Nursing is opposed to drug testing - favouring education and rehabilitation - and my friend is in year five of her training to be a doctor and has never been drug tested.
Laws vary between countries. I would like the opinion of someone who has done this training.

It would depend upon who the employer is. I can tell you that for doctors, prior to starting at any hospital/surgery center or major medical facility the standard would be to have a pre-employment screen.
That would include, PPD/TST with chest x-ray to detect tuberculosis AS WELL AS A URINE TOXICOLOGY.
In the Utox they will test for
cannibinoids (Weed)
cocaine
Opiods (Pain killers and Heroin)
Methadone (A type of long acting Opiod)
Alcohol
Amphetamines (Meth, speed, uppers)
PCP
Some will also test for Ecstasy and other illicits.
Depending upon the drug, there is lots of info on the web about how to pass the test using hydration and several anti dotes.
I will warn you that you will come across common reagents that are known to block the positivity of the test.
MANY OF THE LABS ARE NOW TESTING FOR THESE SO BE CAREFUL.
These tests are being beaten every day, its like the hackers staying one step ahead of the Anti-virus software.

Yes, yes & yes. All medical professionals are drug tested, at least at their entry point to the profession.
