The older cat is a male. The symtoms are that hes not eating, he just lays around, and he seems to use the litter box alot more.

What are the cat's symptoms. If you are really concered I would call the vet and see what they think. You can asked them questions before taking him in. It may just be that he is stressed. He is use to being the only cat in the house, and bringing in another may make him feel like he is being replaced. Give him as much love as you give the kitten and his behavior may go back to normal. Good luck

You say your 10 yr old is going to the bathroom more? Is he urinating or having a bm? If he's urinating - is he just spotting or going normal amounts? If he's spotting, he may have a urinary tract infection which is very painful and will affect his appetite. You would need to get him to your vet asap.

Other than that, your 10 yr old may just be reacting to someone else in the territory he deemed his for so long. I've had the same problem. Just try to include him in your love fest with the new kitten and he should be fine.

Good luck

This is hard to answer without knowing what the sypmtoms are. Cats can get a little sick when they are stressed, but if it seems extreme to you make a vet appointment.

wow -probably a bad decision to get a young kitten when you have an older cat - hard to feed them seperately.. did the old guy eat the kittens food?? kitten food will contain much to much fat for an old cats tummy to handle...

have they BOTH been vaccianted??

Take the older cat to the vet to rule out illness.

Your cat possibly has a urinary tract infection. Check for that. Also have blood tests to see if he has any other disease.
