This is a SCAM. Yahoo do not operate a lottery or give any cash prizes. Check out the below link for confirmation of Yahoo lottery and many other scams and how to report them:

Unscrupulous thieves have sent you this email and they are trying to part you from your hard earned cash. They will often ask you to call a premium rate number and keep you holding on whilst you rack up a huge phone bill. They are then paid a large proportion of this phone bill. They may ask you to divulge personal information about yourself or ask for your bank or credit card details. Do not divulge any such information under any circumstances. It is surprising how many innocent victims have been duped by these types of emails. Just remember the thieves who send them are very clever and extremely convincing. I suggest you delete the email and send it into cyberspace, hopefully along with the thieving scumbags who send them.

There are some very simple guidelines. Firstly, if you didn't enter anything, you didn't win anything. Secondly, unless you're checking to see if you've won, if you are told you have won something, you haven't. Also, never ever ever give out your cell number, there are advertising companys that can send you text messages and make you pay for them, like 2 pounds a shot. If that's not stealing, i don't know what is. But it's leagal as long as they state on the website that it will happen but good luck finding it in all that fine print. so basically, just don't give out your number. another good way to tell if you've won anything is think back; if you haven't payed anything, you haven't won anything.

If you got an email about it saying you are a winner the odds are a billion to one that it is really a SCAM. They just want you to send them your id info so they can clean out your bank account.

If it is a real one the odds are a 100 million or so to one that you lost.

If you bought a ticket and see your number posted on the evening news that is real. Do not hold your breath waiting for that to happen though but anyone it happens to is delighted of course and that encourages all the others who lost to try again.

It depends on who said you won some money.

I also have the same question. But when i asked from them e-mail id of the persons who won same prize as me, they denied to send. I think it is not fruitful to send any money asked by them in advance. As when i told them to deduct money from my winning amount, they say it is not possible to deduct the amount required by them at their side, so we have to send the amount first and then only they will send our winning amount to us. I suggest, not to try further for any e-mail of such type.

You don't know but it's more than 99% certain that it isn't real. Those are good enough odds for me to ignore such notices; they ought to be good enough for you too. Scams in this type of thing are extremely common.

NEVER send money or give out information to anyone. Call the police if anyone wants to give you anything---unless, of course, you happen to find a magic lantern and after rubbing it, a Genie pops out.
