We have so many different kinds of mooncake sold in Hong Kong - chocolates, ice-cream, ... but I like the traditional Cantonese ones - lotus seed paste with 2 eggyolks in 1 cake, I do not eat the yolk,I only eat the lotus seed paste, lol, I give the yolk to my dad! I also like the Chiu Chow style mooncake - crispy ones! What do you think about ice-cream mooncake? (I'm not so fond of ice-cream mooncake because I can't serve it with a cup of good Chinese tea!)

I like the traditional lotus seed mooncakes. I've never had ones with ice cream. When I was young I didn't like the yokes either. But know that I'm older I actually prefer eating them with the yokes, though I often have more than enough of yokes... my children give me the yokes out of theirs. ;)

I've only had one. Years ago I was teaching ESL and the Chinese students brought a lot of things to class around the Chinese new year and one of the things was mooncake. I thought it was really good. I didn't recognize the flavor so I am going to assume it was traditional. It was really good and is just one of several million reasons why I'd like to live in China for a couple of years or more.

Ai_Leen 2003hk, I agree with you on many things, but not this one. I hate mooncakes. The only one I would consider is the Starbucks' Coffee ice cream Mooncake.

I do not like the taste but I love the tradition. Two days ago I saw moon cakes sold in San Francisco's Chinatown, eggs yolks and all. The people there are Cantonese. I hope you keep your great and old traditions. They are so wonderful.

You must be very mad with me, my friends got her relatives to courier 3 boxes for us here( mooncake here ...suck) right from Hongkong..he he he. It is lotus paste with double egg yolk. We are celebrating it on 23rd though.
As for my personal favourite, all except for "kam tui". But my husband eat only red bean paste mooncake or lotus paste without egg yolk. Droolingggg here..
