I've recently taken an interest in cooking, so I should probably pick one of these up. What should I look for and what does a middle of the road quality one cost? I usually am cooking for 2, so it can be small.
Thanks for any recommendations!

I really have to say to shell out for a KitchenAid. You'll never regret it. I used it to make stuff for just me, and now two of us. I use it a couple times a week at least. It slices, shreds, has a metal blade and a dough blade, and a smaller mixing bowl insert with its own set of smaller blades. I love it! If it broke today, I'd go out and buy another one today. If you get a smaller one, I swear you'll want to upgrade within a few uses. :) I've had mine for 6 years now with no problems. And then you can splurge occasionally on the attachments.

Why not combine it with a Blender. Cuisinart has a blender/Food Processor that isn't too steep and works well. Go to Amazon and search on Cuisinart.
