Real, mostly caused by us. There's a massive amount of proof, mostly in the links below. Just study it yourself, don't just listen to others. This website is the best place to start. Factual, unbiased.

This is science and what counts is the data.

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)
Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut and the first Commander of the Naval Space Command

Here are two summaries of the mountain of peer reviewed data that convinced Admiral Truly and the vast majority of the scientific community, short and long.

There's a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on Yahoo answers:

http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/articles/home_page/329.php?nid=&id=&pnt=329&lb=hmpg1

And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change
http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/306/5702/1686 and:

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know... Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point. You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."

Dr. Jerry Mahlman, NOAA

I'm sure global warming is happening VERY slowly but it's not causing all this stuff that people are saying it is. It's a climate shift. In the States, to the south(where it should be very hot during the summer) it's been considerably cool this year. However, where it's usually cooler, it's been real hot. If it we're global warming, everywhere would be getting hotter.

Global Warming is one of many conclusions arrived at by thousands of scientists studying the Earth's weather and climate over more than a century.

The Skeptic/Denier phenomenon is an ultra-conservative political faction with the goal of obstructing action on the findings, and blocking research where they can. Their relationship to Climatology is the same as the relationship of Creationists to Geology.

I feel it is overblown by the media - such as AIDS was in the 1980's. Every decade is a new "crisis". Read "State of Fear" by Michael Crichton-I highly recommend it! A bit preachy but overall it explains how most people have no idea what they are talking about when they speak about how we are destroying the environment, you will never listen to another global warming news broadcast the same way again!

I personally believe global warming is a serious - and immediate - threat to our world, and that if we don't do something within the next ten years, it will be too late.
Still, there are opposing viewpoints. Two of the best I've read recently are listed below; I would urge you to go to the local library and read both articles before forming your own opinion. -RKO- 09/07/07

It is reminiscent of the six blind men and the elephant, each grabbing a body part and announcing a misguided interpretation of the beast. The earth and its history is, to date, beyond our grasp; and is subject to cataclysmic events far beyond our understanding. Most modern "science" seems to lack respect for our planet and the forces that led to its current form.

Global warming? I don't know, but at least, to my credit, I don't pretend to know.

global warming is a figment of our imagination, scientists agree that we are coming out of an ice age, so logically the earth would be warming up
