Not sure what you mean. I have a 4 year bachelors in Psychology with a focus on children and get paid a decent amount. A friend of mine is getting a Ph.D. in child development in NY and will start out earning around $60k.
But if you're looking at community development cetners, you're talking $16-18k. A child care center will be jsut above minimum wage usually.
As in all things, depends how far you take it as to how much you'll be worth to an employer.

It depends on if you have a degree, what type of degree and the experience you have. However I myself have a Bachelor's degree..was working full time as a preschool teacher making 11.00 an hour wahoo... had no problem giving up my salary when I gave birth last year..that salary was much higher then my previous salary of 7.00 an hour in PA (we are now in MD). My salary wouldn't have even come close to covering the cost of day care for my son..so I'm using my degree with my son and am thankful that my husband's job supports us all. However if you seek jobs in school districts you would be making more but that's not the type of setting I so desire.

I am an Early Childood Educator and we do not get paid very much, the best wage I have found is 14$ an hour, which is pretty good, but still to have gone to college it should be higher. I live in Canada and it varies province to province.

Not very much. This only goes to show how much we value our children. We turn them over to people who make a little more than minimum wage, but that's ok, as long as we can make 'em, but not have to take care of them.
Yes, I'm bitter about the way our society treats our children.

I think it depends on where you live but the amount is very, very little. Definitely not enough!!! Probably not much more than minimum wage. SAD.
