this is supposed to be a "fun" question i dont expect you to give me a scientific answer..... i always hear studies about how potentially smart children are. if taught, they can learn many languages, pick up new words, concepts, etc. thats all great, its true. but what i find funny is how that little johnny can be taught how to tell his parents "NO!" in 8 different languages yet it will take him 10 times as long to learn that he should listen to his parents and not tell them no when they tell him to do something. i don't have kids but i find it so funny how my nephew is 4 1/2 and is fluent in english, french, and spanish that we speak but we have been telling him "don't touch , leave it alone, say sorry, be quiet, finish you veggies, pee pee in the potty, go to sleep, don't run, don't hit your sister" since he came out the womb and he still doesnt get the hint ,lol. i know there are brain specific variables and behavorial factors that play a part in this, i just find it funny..........

Oh they are smart all right! They push boundaries and test if you really mean what you say. Some kids disobey for attention. My son is a 14 months and is a perfect example of willful defiance, stubbornness, and strong will.

I don't really think you're racist for not wanting to teach rich kids to golf. However, I would take a look at your last remark "if the rich kids were black...."it's obvious you have a strong affinity for african american people and there is nothing wrong with that, but be careful not to judge others just because they aren't black.Anyway it's what's on the inside that counts.May your life be blessed.

It's the parents that have to be smart enough to teach the kids how to listen. Grown men don't listen either, so there is not much of a role model there...lol.

Selective hearing.

I don't know why they do that i guess they think that a parent is not as important as the good stuff like other languages

lol I know exactly what you mean. My parents use to call it "selective hearing". We all had it when we were kids. We'd hear my mom say, "Dinners ready" or "Let's go shopping", but we'd suddenly go deaf when she said, "Clean your room" or "time to walk the dog". lol Ironically enough, its hereditary. My children now have the same "hearing problems". :) Cute question! Good job!

Maybe teaching the kid to listen to them is too much effort, and it is easier to teach the kid to say no in 10 languages.
