our beliefs and when we answer them all you gang up and give bad ratings. If you don't want to hear the truth...don't ask the question. It doesn't make any sence.
Are you that confused that you want to hear the truth, but when you read it it scares the crap out of you?
God Bless

They're not confused. One individual ask the question; but when the others see it, they think that your facts are messed up. The fact is, every person has their own perspective on religion. So when an atheist ask you a question, they expect an opinion. When other athiest see your opinion on God, (as they see it) Their quick to pull up their bias selves and say. It's wrong b/c the God they see everyone portraying sounds nothing like the one you describe.

We ask questions about your beliefs for one of 3 reasons:

1. To help you understand our disbelief
2. To make you examine your own beliefs
3. We legitimately are unsure and want to know about your beliefs

That does not make your answers the truth. When you answer a question about your own beliefs your answer is a matter of opinion. That is, after all, what belief is in actuality (opinion).

Just because we disagree with your beliefs does not mean we are "ganging up" on you or "afraid" of what you are saying.

Just what do you hope to accomplish by the tone of your post? Conversion? Giving someone who has no belief in God a glimpse of Him living in you? Or are you just wanting to give them a little zinger? A little poke with a sharp stick to get them fired up? How productive.

My friend and I have a little joke between us, when we're going to say something the other isn't likely eager to hear. "I'm gonna speak the truth in love" now. Hey, we say it lightly as an icebreaker...doesn't mean that's not what we're supposed to do.

I for one am weary of all the "clanging cymbals" going on here in the name of Jesus. Give me a room full of athiests who want to really sit down and discuss their reasoning on a mature level ANY DAY over a bunch of religious people who...dare I say...are acting as the Pharisees at the time of Christ.

Please re-read 1 Corinthians 13 again. And again. And again.

If people are going to insult and condemn others for their lack of belief...don't do it in the name of Jesus.

Christians, you ask questions about our knowledge and when we answer them all you gang up and give bad ratings. If you don't want to hear the truth...don't ask the question. It doesn't make any SENSE.

Perhaps you are confused and want to hear the truth, but when you hear it it scares the crap out of you.

Beliefs? No I pretty much understand the christian belief system. I might ask why you think that your belief is valid or non-contradictory to what your book says.

I don't rate questions or answers poorly if it appears that there was some thought put into it. However, trite regurgitations of dogma are another story.

There is one major question that Christians just can seem to answer or grasp the meaning of: "What evidence do you have for the existence of god, or that the bible is factual."

I admit the that evidence for god might be hard, but evidence for te bible should be quite easy....

1. Some of the questions might be ironic.

2. Askers aren't the only raters (it takes more than one to "gang up")

3.Get over it. Obviously, there is little religious tolerance on Yahoo! Answers. I only visit the Religion & Spirituality for limited amounts of time, as there is a lot of hate, and arguments. Most of the questions are pointless.

I have not asked any questions in this category yet. I have answered many of them and have many Best Answers. I want to hear the truth, but you evidently do not. It is you who are obviously scared of the truth. You are "whistling in the dark" here. I see that in my sister. She wants to believe some dumb brand of Christianity, and if I mention taking Bible History in college, she has a tantrum and insults me outrageously showing her hypocrisy. She is the one scared of truth, and you are too. I can show many contradictions and scientific errors in the Bible. No one has any good answers about them. The excuses are so infantile that not even the ones who offer them are convinced deeply.

My older brother is an atheist, and when we get together he grills me about my belief in God, but make no mistake- he is my brother and I love the man world without end, and would die for him in a nano-second. Because of him, my skin is alot thicker after taking some grueling, verbal, mud-stompings from him. My point is, Christ told you that you would face these sorts of things in the world. Why do you act so surprised?
In the spirit of gentleness may I suggest something to you?

Grow thicker skin; hang out with an atheist.

Your skills at argument will thank you later.

Don't worry about the thumbs up or down.

Do the responses make sense to you?

Atheists, by definition, aren't scared of supernatural beings. But some of us get concerned about what happens to the society we live in when lots of people make political, social and interpersonal decisions based on belief in imaginary beings.

From reading the answers it sounds like atheist just want to test believers on the religion that we preach.
