C'mere Deer but check local game laws to ensure you are not baiting, some states do not allow it at all. OK and TX do allow baiting and feeding deer. Some states say your feeder must be a certain distance from your stand. I think you should scout and find several active trails use trail cameras to determine if they are using during day or night will tell you when to sit your stand..am or pm. Once you have a good stand you can establish food plots to attract more deer

why would you want a deer to go under your stand? better to find a deer trail (or even better an intersection of deer trails) and then find a place with a clean shot to it around 100 m away. you can also plant rye grass (or any plant the deer find really tasty in your area) and let it grow for the deer to eat (remember all animals need 3 things, food, water and shelter if you locate where they are getting these things then you will be able to kill them better). you need to do a full scout of the area you're going to hunt, locating water sources and food sources (if you don't disturb the area too much you can also find the areas they bed down in) find the trails in and out of that area, and set up a stand somewhere far enough away not to spook them but close enough that you can shoot them.
also doe scent works extremely well I'm told (almost too well) as would a salt block in the middle of your plot during the summer, remove it before hunting season (rain will still wash the salt and minerals into the ground and it will last a long time) I'm not sure if corn during the summer is considered baiting, but I think its a waste of time and money because you'll probably be attracting more raccoons than deer.
other than that, get good at calling game and research when the best times in the seasons are. it depends largely on your location and how heavy the hunting is.

Do some scouting and locate areas of high deer activity. Find trails that they travel often. Then set up your stand on the upwind side of the trail, in a place with some good shooting lanes. Also you can set up near a food source, such as on the edge of a field. Some scent products also work well for attracting deer.

You are putting the cart before the horse. If you look at what everyone else is advising you to do, you need to find a good deer trail before you set up your stand, not the reciprocal.
You would need to bait the area with a salt lick or feed station in order to "get" deer to travel near your stand. This practice is unethical, if not illegal.

Scout the area you intend to hunt ahead of time. Check the area for trails that cross or intersect. Build or put up your stand within a few yards of these highly traveled and used intersections and you will increase your chances of seeing Deer greatly. You want to be off to one side of these trails, not directly above them. Heavily used Deer trails will be obvious, and you should also look for scrapes or large Oak/ acorn tree's in the area. Fresh droppings are always a sign of trail use...Good Luck!

I'd say that the best strategy is to place your stand somewhere near a deer trail.

the best way is to place your stand near a well used deer trail always staying down wind next you could put up a deer feeder if legal in your state always stay down wind and try to be as sent free as you can you must sneak in and out of your stand as stealthy as possible lures are tricky to use and will often spook deer good luck

Put your stand above where the deer travel

There is no substitute for doing proper scouting when hunting.
