I'm not going to lecture you about dependency when you are talking about taking it to combat anxiety for a specific phobia like flying. But no, you should not take 10mg of valium ( that is a lot of Valium ) you may be unable to even get on or off the plane at that point and you ould have rebound anxiety once it wears off. Take your normal dose and take it about 10minutes pror to boarding you should be fine by take-off

Diazepam is a very strong drug and should not be self prescribed. The results could be scary- you're taking Valium. It can also be a very addictive drug and it really is not supposed to be used for more than a few months. Uping it will only worsen your symptoms as you could have an adverse affect. An usual amount could overly excite you rather than calm you down. It's not a good thing to have a dependency for.

Hi there. I would suggest that you stick to the dose that the doctor has recommended. Taking it more than doctor's recommendation and taking it regularly can make it habit-forming. Higher doses can also increase the chances of side-effects occurence. You'll be fine with just the one; diazepam can cause drowsiness and hopefully you will be knocked-out and therefore will be less anxious.

My wife took some prescribed Diazapan for a 10 hour flight some years back. 20 minutes from touchdown she awoke and asked me "how much longer". Did`nt eat or go to the loo. I`ve never known such a peaceful 10 hours. She took them some 2-3 hours before the flight and found them very relaxing. Probably affects people in different ways but will certainly do the trick for you
