An acoustic guitar case costs anywhere from ten to fifty dollars for an inexpensive case. Avoid thin zippers. They pull apart too easily. If you buy a soft shell case, make sure it is padded and always treat your guitar more carefully than if it were in a hardshell case. Watch for back to school Christmas, after Christmas and inventory sales. Also watch for going out of business sales. If you get a chipboard case, avoid heavy rain. They are not nearly as waterproof as they claim and they are not much better protection than a well padded soft shell case. Hope this helps.

Takamine G230 Guitar

Acostic cost? Acoustic guitar cost? Case cost? Uh, I'll do both. Pawn shop guitar, $50, if you haggle. Nice, starter takamine G230, $200, Yamaha F335, $180. Lower than that, get the pawn shop one. The cases are silly expensive, partly due to shipping, $60 or more, bags (aren't cases) are $10-20.

Pawn shops sometimes have hard cases that they keep in the back room, maybe sell for $20 or so.

Cases cost big chains about $39 or so to get in, again mostly due to shipping and size of the item.

You can get a gig bag type case for around 25-30 bucks. Hardshell cases are more.
