All donations are screened rigorously prior to being given to anyone else in a transfusion. So there is no need to worry about passing anything to anyone else. Also, no, you can not pass cancer on to another person through blood. Cancer is not a virus or a contagious disease.

The simple answer is no. For one, blood is carefully tested before being given to other patients and two, cancer is simply not a communicable disease. Even if it's a blood cancer, the amount that would be in a donated pint would generally be enough for a person's other cells to defeat, and the cancer would die without more being produced in the bone marrow or whereever. I suppose that there is a chance, but it's so small that it's hardly worth a mention.

I gave blood a few weeks ago, and they said if I get sick or find out I have a virus or disease that I should contact the Blood Donor Clinic/Health Unit right away... just in case...
Better safe than sorry I always say!
I'm sorry to hear about your Cancer. I'll keep you in my prayers.
God Bless.

There is a slim chance that the tiny number of your cancer cells will mange to escape the detection and destruction by the immune system of the recipient and prosper in its body.
However, it is highly likely that your blood donation is still waiting in some refrigerator waiting to be used.
Therefore, if I were you - I would report it to and they would destroy it. Why impose unnecessary risks to another human being?

It could be if it has already been in your blood, such as leukemias or it has metastasized to other organs.
