She is probably worth a million so she can afford it. My SIL came to my hubby's 40th birthday dinner and picked him a flower off a bush in front of the restaraunt and she is the Director of Risk Management for a Hospital and makes about $75K. What do I say or do to his family? PS ~ I am a strong Christian so nothing ugly, please. Blessings!

Yes, I have an attitude about it. I'm sure you wouldn't care. I'm sure that you wouldn't seek out advise if it were happening to you. If it wasn't burning me, I wouldn't be on here asking. Christians who judge other Christians are the ones who give us a bad name. I shouldn't have called her scummy, but there is no other name for such bad class. We live 5 miles from each other and she surely could at least send me a card or call. It is very sad.

PS- I didn't say that I didn't have money too, I was just informing you all because my first response would have been, perhaps she couldn't afford it!

Anger is an emotion given to us by God and your calling her scummy is a reflection of the hurt that she has caused you. Your honesty with your question is the only way to get a true answer and calling her scummy here is a good place to do so because it does not hurt you, her or your chances of building a relationship. It is unfortunate that some have come across as judgmental but the truth is that the only person you can control is you. You are trying to have the best relationship that you can with your MIL because you have to have a relationship with her. Make your actions those of Christ and focus on your relationship with your husband. You also may bake her some cookies or something. That may "heap burning coals" on her head. (Proverbs 25:21-22)

Would Jesus be calling her 'scummy'? I think not. You should be praying about the situation instead of asking on Y!A.

Blabbing about how bad someone is online is not a very Christian approach. You should have a more loving heart.

Maybe instead of venting so much, get your Bible out and read it.

well i have incountered MIL and SIL problems myself. and no matter what you say or do it will never be good enough....so just remember that the ONLY person you need to make happy is your husband....and really dont let that they make mega bucks and wont buy you a b day card bother you....then it seems like you are jealous of there wealth.......we choose the roads to go down and if you didnt choose a money maker road then thats your choice.....but dont be jealous or let it bug you that someone didnt do this or that.......move on.....its petty.

well, if you were a strong christian you would not be calling your mother in law scummy...and...you would not be venting about how much money they have and should spend...did she call you? to me, picking up a flower off a bush is a cute idea... it should not be about how much one spends, but, it's the thought that counts! if she did not call you, I can see why...you have an attitude and it needs to change =(...

Actually to me being with my family for my birthday, and nothing more, is worth a million to me. That is gift enough.

what difference does it make? if you don't care for her, why do you need a b-day card from her? my in laws don't aknowledge my b-day either. i'm fine with that as long as they remember our kids and mu husband.

Jesus had encounters with Satan and resisted him. You should do the same with your inlaws.
