I just bought a brand new air compressor for my truck... the mechanic.. (at my work) installed it and says that i have all new parts and that it should be working fine. He did tell me that my fan clutch doesnt work as well as it should and i need a new one.. but that my a/c is fixed... and if I get a new fan clutch, the air would be even cooler. So when i got into my truck yesterday after he had fxed it, it was nice and cold!!! Once i made it about a mile it started blowing warm air... there was no a/c about it!!! It felt as if nothing was fixed... I then had to roll my windows down in 95 degree weather just to get a breeze. could my fan clutch be the cause of NO cool air coming out of my vents... or is something else wrong? I'm pretty sure that he did what he thought he needed to do to fix it... but I just paid him $600.00 to fix my a/c...... and it is right back to acting like it was before. is there something else I can ask him to check?

what you just described sounds like it leaked all the freon back out of it,and that isn't good, let it cool off and see if the air works good again on it,if not it leaked all the freon out, your fan clutch if its working any at all wouldn't have caused this to happen, you would have also noticed the engine getting hotter on the temperature gage on it,try running it again and see if the air works,if not it has a leak in it somewhere, and he will have to find it,that was his job to start with,so he may have to re-do this one, good luck with it.

well a faulty clutch fan could cause almost no air, especially on a 95* day. The reason it was nice and cold at first was because the engine hadn't warmed up yet. But since your clutch fan couldn't sufficiently bring your engine temp back down, your ac will suffer(blow warm air). You could also have a leak in the system and you're low on refrigerant..

Dodge durango are notorious for leaks in their A/C system. We have a Dodge with no A/C currently because it has a crack coil of some sort, it was 4 years old at the time that it happened. At 60,000 miles we had to replace the engine and found out that was also a commom problem. So good luck with your Durango. It definently sounds like you have a leak somewhere and all of the coolant leaked out leaving your no cool air.

The fan clutch only helps in traffic and around town driving. At highway speeds, there is enough air going through the condenser to cool it. If you're Durango's a.c. doesn't cool on the highway, take it back to the mechanic. And yes it probably lost it's refrigerant.

I'd be checking if any codes are now stored in the comp and also I'd wright a diagram up on the spark-plug wire layout going to the ignition coil then remove them and unbolt disconnect the ignition coil.Look for rust or corrosion on the ignition coil's spark-plug wire connectors and clean them regardless how rusted or corroded they look to you. Also check the ignition coil's housing for any cracks or bulges or dis-coloring bec that tell you the ignition coil is over heating internally and shorting out.Plus check the plug in connectors and connections on and going to the ignition coil for rust etc. Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way keep at it you'll get it working better.Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays

No, the fan clutch would not cause your a/c to stop altogether. Sounds like there is still a problem. he will have to check the system again.
