I think it must be because this documentary I saw the other night said that personalities are hereditary, and we start to develop personalities when we're in the womb.

But if this gene isn't passed on to you, but you grow up with someone who has OCD that's mild - moderate and undiagnosed, can it make you develop OCD more easily?

Yes, OCD is genetic, but can also be a learned behavior.

I've actually been undergoing treatment for a while for OCD. We were working on figuring out whether it was something I was born with, so to speak, or whether my behavoirs were learned from the family members that also appear to have it.

I don't know if it's hereditary, but it makes sense if you grow up with someone (especially a parent) that has OCD, you might also develop some of the symptoms simply because we learn by observing.

I'm thinking its a trait that may be passed on to your children.
