In the store, you can get two sizes of fresh sausage - the little links and the large links. What is the difference between the large sausage links and brauts?

The size of a sausage depends on the diameter of the casing used. You can get casings that range from about 1/2" in diameter -- breakfast sausage -- up to 6" in diameter -- mortadella.

The list of sausages is quite long. From bratwurst and knockwurst to hot dogs and bologna. What makes the difference is the kind of meat used, how the meat is ground, how the meat is seasoned, and how it cooked.

A bratwurst is a coarse ground fresh pork sausage in a natural pork casing. I'm not certain what the large sausage links you are referring to are, but there should be a label on the package describing the product, if not, ask someone in the meat department.

I'm pretty sure they are close, but the casing is different, and so are the spices... they may have different meats in them as well...
