I love nachos. If I could, i'd eat them 24/7. But obviously I can't. Anyways, I want to turn nachos from a snack into a meal but i'm not sure how. I figured I could just put a whole bunch on a plate, melt some cheese onto it, and then maybe cook some hamburger meat and throw it on there but i'm a lousy cook and chances are i'll just ruin it by doing that. So, if you can, give me some ideas to turn nachos from a snack into a meal. :)

Buy a rotisserie chicken from your deli--BBQ flavor if they have it. Shred the meat from the bones & set aside. Arrange your favorite nacho chips on a large platter. Top with the shredded chicken and whatever nacho toppings you like. I use olives, chopped onions, peppers, tomatoes and a blend of monterey jack and cheddar cheeses. Pop it in the oven at 350 until heated through & the cheese is melted. Serve with some salsa, guacamole and sour cream.

Another easy one:

You'll need a large pan (I use my deep dish pizza pan, but any pan that's about 2" deep will do).
Layer in the pan:

* I large can of refried beans, warmed in microwave
* 1 16 oz container of sour cream, mixed with 1 envelope of taco seasoning mix
* 1 lb hamburger, browned, drained and mixed with 1 cup salsa
* 2 medium tomatoes, chopped
* 1 can sliced black olives
* 3-4 green onions, sliced thin
* 2 cups each of shredded monterey jack & cheddar cheese

After it's all assembled, pop it under the broiler until the cheese melts. Use as a dip for nacho chips.

You were going in the right direction. When I make nachos for dinner I cook some ground hamburger meat w/ taco seasoning. The seasoning should have simple directions on the back. Then I lay down my chips on a baking sheet/pan sprinkle cheese on top then lay the meat on top, sprinkle more cheese and bake in oven till melted. Then I top with lettuce and tomato (but you don't have to if its to much) sliced black olives, salsa and sour cream. Viola! You have a meal.

The Spur Steak Ranch franchise has this nachos meal...
Simply place a handful of nachos on a plate.
Put quite a lot of tomato/onion sauce over it.
Add something spicy if you wish, like chilly or chutney.
Sprinkle with grated cheese and grill until the cheese is melting.
Serve with some avocado on the side

If you incoperate the meat then it can be turned into a meal. Precook the ground beef or chicken. Then put the chips on a cookie sheet then add the cheese, beans, and meat. Then put them in the oven so the cheese melts and they get crispy. Then you can add lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream on top once you get them out and they cool for a little. This way you have the protein from the meat, cheese, and beans.

this is as hit wherever a bring it!

1 bag Tostito Scoops
1 Can Jalepeno Cheddar nacho Cheese
1 lb. hamburg
1 packet taco seasoning
1 bag Kraft Mexican Cheese blend
1 lg tomato
1 lg red onion
2 tbsp cilantro
1/2 tsp minced garlic
1 box of spanish rice

on large baking sheet, lay out scoops (use only unbroken ones)

get rice started according to package

cook hamburg, drain, and prepare for tacos according to taco seasoning packet

while hamburg is cooking, spoon a bit of nacho cheese into the bottom of each Tostito scoop. I usually use two spoons, one to scoop the cheese out of the can and another to scrape the cheese off of the first spoon into the scoop.

pre-heat oven to 350

once hamburg is finished, scoop a bit of hamburg into each scoop on top of nacho cheese

sprinkle nachos with mexi-cheese

bake for 8 minutes

while baking, finish up rice and make:

Pico de Gallo

chop up tomato into small chunks

do the same with onion, only make these chunks smaller

in bowl, lightly mix (so as to not squish tomatoe chucks too much) tomato, onion, cilantro and garlic.

once nachos are done, top with pico.

serve rice alongside.

the nachos make a great app or sports snack as well!!

A MUST TRY!!

Well, why can't you cook some hamburger and put it on them? If not, purchase some grilled cooked chicken breast chunks from the supermarket, top with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, salsa, sour cream, cheese, and peppers. There is your meal.

Well, hambuger isn't very easy to ruin, but you could add precooked chicken instead-or beans. Chop up green onions and tomatoes for some vitamins. Go easy on the cheese-it's high in fat. Guacomole and sour cream are tasty additions but not very healthy.

Do this.

Get Spicy Hamburger meat (or Turkey for health benefits).
Get Spicy Kraft cheese (big ol' block)
Get some Spicy salsa.
Get Baked Tostitos

Mix all the melted cheese, salsa and meat together and use the chips to dip with and it is the GREATEST TASTING THING EVER! ;^)

And if you don't do spicy, don't get the spicy versions. :)

The first ingredient, besides the obvious....canned chili, such as Hormel.

Make two layers of your nacho chips and cheese then add the chili ( I usually heat the chili seperately first) then put cheese on the chili and microwave it all about 2 minutes! You can add olives, tomatoes, onions, etc.

Nachos are one of my favorites.
