Maybe you are downloading internet explorer 7, it needs a validation code of your operating system to verify the authenticity, better be happy with IE6. or just download the Mozilla Firefox, it works better than I E, 7. you can download it here:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

Internet Explorer does not need a validation code.

Where did you get your download from? If it wasn't from Microsoft, you should email Microsoft and give then the URL.

This the official site is http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/ie/default.mspx
I have recently updated to IE7. No validation code needed.

If you access the MS IE7 site with Netscape it asks for a "validation code" if you access the MS site with your current version of the IE it does a validation check via a "confirm" button. This checks if your OS is valid or not automatically. wolf

IE7 does not require validation code.
However, if you try to install it, it will call Microsoft, and they will verify that your copy of XP or vista is LEGAL.
If it is not, you cannot install IE7.
As said above, it is the authentication key of your OS that is required (on your installation disks or somewhere on a sticker on your PC)

It should automatically check to see if your OS is genuine. Should not have to enter the key. But normally on the side of your pc there will be a sticker or with your OS disks.
