Umm... I don't think you can judge a person's level of insecurity just by looking at answers they give here. By that token, Christians must have just as many insecurities. Have you seen some of the answers they give?

I think that you are seeing insecurity where really it is simply a desire to rid the world of delusion. Maybe not in your mind... but in the atheist mind your belief is delusional... and to anyone outside of your belief system actually... your belief is delusional. No one wants the world run by people that are delusional, or that make choices inspired by delusions. So if you see many atheists bashing your religion, hey, you can call it insecurity... or you can just call it doing what they see as right. Which is trying to keep potentially harmful faith systems from taking full control of the government, or in this case, something as simple as Yahoo! Answers... which could potentially be used as a recruiting post for many of these ideas.

Hmm, for your name you don't really perceive a lot do you? Why are so many religious types so insecure about the faith they proclaim to follow?
I know you mentioned specifically that there are exceptions but in general I've found atheists to be far less insecure than religion followers. They tend to know better who they are and where they fit into life and the world. I don't know what kind of answer you'd perceive as being insecure, maybe the aggressive ones? That can just as easily be irritation as insecurity you know.

Most atheists hereabout do not engage in discussion with Fundies, which makes your scientific poll a touch less, er, scientific. And those who do ask questions or provide answers do not strike me as being 'insecure.' In fact, the direct opposite. I do 'look at answers' of both unbelievers and the religious here. I encourage you to give a closer look--the endless cut-and-paste answers, a dozen Fundies each giving the same answer with the same wordage, the display when god isn't capitalized or Jesus is referred to as a Jew, the raging anger when someone asks about the absurdities in the Bible, etc., etc. Speak of insecure! Ouch!!

I have my fair share of insecurities, as does every other person on this site. In what way do you wish to address the insecurities that Atheists have? Perhaps there is a pattern you have noticed, but please do not be ambiguous as it makes it difficult to give you a worth while answer.

I disagree that Athiests are insecure. I think that needing a religion shows insecurity. Athiests seem to get along with their lives without a religion to help them make decisions, a god to keep them safe and an afterlife to look forward to.
Have you ever seen any vast buildings to show the power of atheism, how about weekly, worldwide days to rejoice in atheism. Ever seen someone walking around with an athiest symbol around their neck to show their faith? They seem to be happy to be anonymous. They dont need to be part of a team. They dnt need to advertise it. They are secure in their lack of faith.

I'm sure there as many insecure atheists around as there are insecure Jesus freaks. It's really silly to generalize like that.

Well their very atheism is an indication of their insecurity. If they were wholey rational people they would be agnostics instead. They have to try to positively negate God because they are insecure and feel the need to try to escape the idea. They should simply be level headed and say they cannot know.

They aren't.
They know god does not exist and so can get on with life.
The religious, however, cling to all sorts of insane notions and contradictory thoughts to prop up their sagging faiths which do not stand even the slightest test by reality.

I'm not insecure.I don't need to be told that what I believe is right or ok.I don't need to have others agree with me.I just tell it like it is whether people like it or accept it or not.It seems to me that the ones who are insecure are the ones who care so much about whether I believe what they want me to believe.
