I have deep pain on the left side of my chest and shoulder when I breathe, Burp or yawn...also, the left underside of my jaw is inexplicably sore. Any suggestions.

If you're going to say "Go to a doctor" -- I agree with you, I have an appt. for Next Monday....what I'm looking for until then are educated opinions on what it might be, from people who have experience with these symptoms...thanks!

ALSO: the breathing pain is only when I breath in Deeply....idle breathing doesn't hurt.

It hurts the most when I burp or yawn...the pain seems to be centralized around the Upper left chest/Clavicle/Lower Shoulder area

Really, upon furhter reflection and exercise, the jaw muscle ache seems to be centralized (down the center) than either to the left or right of my jaw....
It also occured to me that I've been yawning a lot lately (ever get that feeling of not being able to take a deep enough breath, or get a deep enough yawn, so you keep trying? That.)

I checked out a list of sumptoms for "Pleurisy", and they matched almost spot on....i think that's a pretty accurate guess, but I'm still open to suggestions from people who may know something we don't...

Well, heart attack comes to mind.

So, however, does stress-related muscle tightening. If you ever go to a chiropractor, you might want to go now. If you have never gone, ask a friend for a recommendation, and if you have health insurance, check if they cover chiropractors, and also whether the chiropractor takes your insurance.

I have indeed had "muscles so tight it hurt in a deep layer to breathe in all the way," and one shoulder was tightened down, and my head was a little to one side, and so tight that my jaw and neck were sore. If the jaw could be that sort of soreness, you can probably see a chiro tomorrow or Saturday.

This sounds like pleurisy, an infection in the pericardium, the lining between the lings and the outer body shell. Sometimes we get this like a cold, some people are susceptible to this. My mom had it all the time, could never get rid of it, at times she would sit and cry it would be so bad.

The problem is, there's not much you can do about it. They will give you anti-biotics but, that may help. Usually rest. This can get bad enough to collapse a lung and, has happen often.

The doctor will check your heart also as a matter of precaution.
