Absolutely!! We were created in the image of God, He has given us a sense of humor, to be joyful and of "good cheer". He gave the ability to laugh to strengthen us and lighten our worries, fears and burdens. It's like anything else, it can be used for either good or evil, it's what you choose to do with it.
The Lord doesn't expect us to be all drab and dreary, being all stone-faced and serious all the time or He would not have given us the ability to laugh and made it one of His Commandments. "Thou shalt be extremely serious and shalt not laugh"
It's when we take life and ourselves TOO seriously, that we get into trouble and are burdened down with fears & worries. Jesus doesn't do that.
We all have the ability to get angry, but that doesn't mean we should never be angry. Jesus said, "Be ye angry, but sin not"
Even Jesus got angry. He shed tears as a man and I know He laughed and He has a sense of humor.
We shouldn't allow our emotions to rule our lives and take life to the extreme. I heard a Paster once say, that whenever he did something stupid or made a mistake and felt self-conscious about it, he said he'd picture Jesus and the angels looking down from heaven laughing, saying, "Hey Paul, Micheal, come here a minute, get a load of this one!!" And it helped him stop taking life and himself so seriously every time he made a simple mistake.
If anything, the Lord works towards lifting our spirits up and He works in us and through us, towards helping us to NOT take our life and ourselves and others so seriously so we can have life and enjoy our lives more abundantly, to the full!
There is Joy! in laughter, and healing. Think of all the little things in this world that make little children laugh, where would they be and what would their childhoods be like without laughter in it? I would miss hearing children's laughter and playing! Even Jesus said,"Lest you become as a little child, you cannot enter the Kingdom of heaven"
Think of their faith, little children don't have a care or worry in the world. If they have an argument w/ a friend, 5 minutes later, they've forgotten all about it and go right back to playing and having fun again. Jesus wants us to trust in Him like that. As completely as a little child does, and have child-like faith.
It's a little hard to worry and be fearful and take life serious and laugh and have fun at the same time. I don't think that's possible.
He said,"Look at the flowers, they don't toil, neither do they spin, yet even Solomon in his finest robe of many colors was not dressed as well as one of these And the birds of the air, neither to they sow, nor reap, yet your heavenly Father provides for them." He said, "Take no thought of what tomorrow will bring, for tomorrow has enough trouble by itself"
I can see the humor in his illustration and I can also see He was using this to tell us NOT to be so serious and worried about tomorrow and things in life. God is in control.
He said, "The Kingdom, which is Righteousness, Joy and peace, is within you"
You have to use an open mind to see the Lord's humor in Scripture and things that happen in this world. Like how a criminal thinks he's fooling God and getting ways with what he's doing, yet when he gets caught, it's the very things he was trying to hide that trips him. Like Proverbs says, if a man tries to roll a boulder over onto somebody else, it will roll back onto him and crush him.
Look at how many times in the Bible it says "Rejoice!" And "Be merry!" Jesus said,"Be of good cheer!!"
Consider some of things Jesus said,"First take the log out of your own eye, then you can see more clearly to to take the speck of wood out of your friends eye"
Another translation puts it this way,"First take the beam out of your own eye, then you will be able to see more clearly to take the splinter out of your friends eye!!"
And this one: "It's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God!"
And look at the platypus and orangutan's and silly monkey's, and little puppies & playful baby kitten's how silly they can be. Look at some of the creatures in the ocean. Like the flat fish that goes along the bottom on it's side with two-eyes on one side of it's head!
Even an infant can laugh, and they are innocent and pure!!
God's own Word, in the Scriptures talks of laughter & joy as being given by God."He will fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy!" Job 8:21†
And "A merry heart does the body good like medicine"
But it also says that laughter of fools and drunkards is meaningless and they shall be brought low. There is a distinct difference between mockery type laughter, and Joyful & happy laughter!! Being "Cheerful"
Jesus cast the demons out a man and sent them into a bunch of pigs, and the pigs ran into the water and drown themselves trying to get away!
Another place Jesus said, "Don't give your pearls to pigs! Lest they trample them on the ground and turn and tear you to pieces!"
Extreme seriousness not only makes life dull it causes stress, and leads to fears, worries, anxiety, rage, bitterness, and a sour disposition, heavy hearts, sad countenance and negative attitude which can lead into sinning, arguments and even hatefulness, not to mention all the numerous sicknesses and diseases, heart problems, high blood pressure, ulcers, etc, etc,
"The Joy of the Lord is my strength!"
Just look a little deeper and you'll see "Seek and ye shall find". that the Lord does have a sense of humor. I look at all the amazing creatures in the oceans and on land and I can't help but see the humor. And it's as though some were even created special, just to make little children laugh and be happy!!
So, YES!! I think He's got a GREAT sense of humor!!!
=) indeed!

Any individual possessing the keen discernment, insight, and compassion for other individuals as evidenced in the NT biographical accounts would also have a sense of humor. Compassion and a sense of humor go together, particularily in the realm of human interaction, throughout Jewish and Christian tradition.
However, a "sense of humor" devoid of compassion usually manifests as mockery.
CHIEKO: Great example. Right on!

I believe that Jesus did have a sense of humor, but it was always appropriate, never coarse or questionable. I think He never laughed at other people's mistakes or hurts, either. So a lot of what we consider a sense of humor today, He didn't have.

I am sure that He has some sense of humor, because the bible says that "A cheerful heart makes good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones." Proverbs 17:22

I found the account of Balaam's *** rebuking Balaam quite humorous. I think God may have a sense of humor, but it is not a sarcastic, dark or twisted sense of humor. I tend to think God may "smile" over some of our humorous ways, that there may be a form of heavenly mirth.
On the other hand the sciptures do say that Satan and his angels laugheth and rejoice at the fall of mankind.
There is a big difference between heavenly mirth and the raucous laughter from hell.

i think He did have a sense of humor. like when He asked the samaritan woman for water and ended up having a spiritual discussion. the part where he tells her to go get her husband and she says she can't. he busts her by saying that she's had a lot of *husbands* and she goes, *i can tell you are a prophet*...
i think he used humor to help her think about her life, and yet not get angry cuz he knew her business. most women would have gotten huffy and stomped off in a fit if anyone told the about how they sleep around...

He may have but you have to remember that he was only hear for one thing, to save the world. Don't think to much on things like this. Also remember that God made man in his likeness. Most of us have a sense of humor so I would believe that its part of how God made us.

He had the power to kill and maime the worst of the worst in his days but he didn't. He healed instead. I would say he must of had a good sense of humor to keep it in perspective and do what was right. If I had that kind of power today, I would not be so good with it. For sure.

I'm sure he had a sense of humor. You see, something that a lot of Christians fail to realize about Christ was that when on earth, though he was divine, he was also human. I have no problem with believing that Christ had a sense of humor, as a matter of fact, I cherish that, almost like a fond memory of a loved one. His rhetoric and use of metaphor also lends itself to some sarcasm in his tone, in which case, I'm sure he understood and appreciated satire in his conversation.
