While watching tv at my girlfriend's house, she suddenly turned to me and told me that I could change the channel at any time if I wanted to. I presumed that this meant she would be willing to watch whatever I wanted to. Then she said to me, "Nothing gay, please." When I finally did find something I liked, she looked at me disapprovingly and said, "I thought I said nothing gay. This is kinda gay." So I handed her back the remote. She quickly switched to another random channel. This, by the way has happened before. My girlfriend refers to certain thing's that I like as gay or lame, or a waste of time. If she loves me like she claims she does, should she say thing's like this, or am I overreacting? I feel that even if she doesn't like some of the thing's that I do, she could at least show respect for the fact that those thing's are important to me.

Is it that big of a deal? She's just messing with you man.
It's not that serious, In the Army we call each other gay all the time and make Homo jokes about each other.
It dosen't mean we "Hate gay people" or we honestly think something or someone is homosexual. It just normaly catchs people who are straight "that aren't used to that kind of harmless rousing" off gaurd and it's funny....in fact if one of my buddies saw this and noticed I used the word "rousing" he'd probobly say that was pretty gay.
You like her, she likes you, I assume if this is an adult relationship that you are having sex...so how gay can you possibly be.
Man up, Grow a pair, and stop crying about it. Because, honestly It's kinda gay

dude! She doesn't love you, like you said if she loved you she wouldn't say such things. Just because a guy likes some shows doesn't mean you should hate him. She obviously likes you ONLY on looks and or social status. If she loved you at all she would understand that you like what you like and there is nothing you can do about it.
Plus just because a show is gay doesn't mean its not good! It just means the people are dressed better!

I think the issue here is that she did hurt you / your feelings...... perhaps she could define exactly what she means by 'gay' and then you would be quite clear what she means......
Personally I feel she is saying and doing this as I believe that she knows it will offend you and she just wants to see how far she can push you or the boundaries of your relationship...
Love is built on respect and there is very little of it coming from her!

Lol, it seems like the relationship is switched around and shes the Man in the relationship then ur the one going and crying to ur friends about what ur other has done! My opinion i guess you probably are overreacting! If it makes you feel bad though i guess try and talk 2 her

I believe that "people" use that term too openly. She most likely used that word as an expression, not generalizing directly to you. As you mentioned though, she does seem a little harsh. Maybe she doesn't respect your sensitivity so I would make sure that she really does care for you before you pursue this relationship. Hope this helps and good luck. :D

I think it is just a small problem, so you could not judge your gf that she doesnt love you. You can talk to her about what you wrote and then ask her why ? so she might chang her attitude because she loves you. If you mind her with this issue. Please dont let a little dispute to destroy your friendshiop. When there is a problem , you just solve it. Nothing cant solve , however, only we do not sovle it.
