To the guys...How would you react if an ugly girl had a crush on you?

I do expect you to behave like you are gentlemen.

Would you ask...Does (girl in question) have a crush on me?...to a mutual friend?

Or does asking the mutual friend mean he has interest in (girl in question)?

If my friends think she's ugly, but I think she's cute I would ask a friend, "Does she have a crush on me."

If I am not attracted to her, I would not ask a friend about her. If a guy asks a mutual friend then he is interested in the girl.

I remember there was this really nice girl who had a crush on me. Everytime i would go to the local bookstore (where she worked) she would hover over me and always strike up conversations, etc.

Finally, after months of this, I thought I would invite her on a friendship date, where eventually i planned on letting her know, that while I liked her, i only thought of her as a friend.

First off, I chose the wrong movie, Boogie Nights.

I hesitated and hesitated all night long, The longer I was out with her, the more I was worried about hurting her feelings.

I pretty much figured that i had chickened out, and I drove her home to drop her off. Outta nowhere she starts coming in for the kiss, almost like it was in slow motion i could see her lips advancing towards me. I reached mentally for the first thing i could to stop her in her tracks. I blurted out, "I'm really into Latino Girls right now!"

It worked, she stopped right in her tracks, gave me a really puzzled look and just said goodnight and thank you.

Now, first off, that is not how I wanted that to happen, I really wanted to just break it to her gently, but i had no backbone when the time came. I stopped going to that bookstore, and to this day, I wonder and hope that i did not hurt the poor girls feelings.

In short, I wish I had just told her right off the bat that i only thought of her as a friend.

I personally never asked friends about my women issues, made those choices myself so I would not ask a friend. Asking one does not necessarily mean than you're interested either.

Admittedly, both men and women want to be desires by attractive people rather than unattractive ones. That varies from person to person though. If I thought she had a crush on me, I'd address it to her immediately if I wasn't interested.
