Yes - it is not great to eat before sleep - and especially not carbs.
Since you won;t be burning these - the insulin response the carbs produce will cause your insulin levels to remain elevated - that hormone is THE hormone that causes us to make fat AND makes us hungry.
Instead - have a glass of skim milk.
It will help you sleep and skim milk has been proven in 7 separate studies to aid weight loss.
Two glasses a day = a weight loss of 10% in 6 months.

I can't believe how misinformed some people are. If you eat 2000 calories a day, it doesn't matter when you take them in. Your body will digest them all the same-- it might not be fully digested until LONGER, but that's a moot point. Not to mention that the time your body is, "pound for pound," burning the most fat IS WHEN YOU SLEEP.
Eating before you sleep won't affect your weight-loss. Just make sure you're staying under your daily caloric intake.

no its a load of crap. ever wonder why you have to go the bathroom when you wake up. because your body has been processing and restoring your body why you sleep.
it is DEFINITELY NOT bad for you if you eat before bed. don't eat a large meal before bed because you may feel bloated and can't sleep. if you are hungry you may not be able to sleep either. if you eat fried, sugary or really fatty foods at bed time or near bed time your body won't be able to process the food and will store it as fat. but thats only an extreme situation.
if you really want to lose weight dont listen to people who are starving themselves after 6pm.

Don't eat after 7pm, 6pm if you can handle it. Most people gain weight from eating before bed. You may or may not feel bloated in the morning, especially from the milk, it depends on your digestive system. Since you just ate it you should probably wait an hour before you go to sleep and if you have one available, take an antacid.

I just seen a study on TV that they done on eating before bed time. What they found out was that it didn't make any difference as to when you eat comparing it to the weight gain.
So eat it up at bed time if you like just don't make it an extra meal.

I think it can cause weight gain since your metabolism slows down when you sleep. I think you should abstain from eating big meals at least 2 hours b4 bed. If I want a midnight snack I eat something low fat like a carrot or some sorbet.

Weight wise.. yes, it is and thats part of the reason I put on a LOT of weight several years ago.
When you go to sleep, your body shuts down - that means it is not actively burning calories or breaking down the enzymes like it would if you were awake .. even awake and being sedentary.

It depends on how much you ate. But if you want to lose weight I suggest no more late meals b/c you wont burn down the calories and you will eventually gain weight.

I don't think eating a light snack will cause any harm but I don't recommend eating before bedtime if you have problems with acid reflux. The acid will back up and cause horrible heartburn.

Research proves that when you eat has minimal effect on attempts to control weight.
However, you should not be eating right before lying down-whether you are lying down for the night or to watch tv or for whatever--because it will contribute to heartburn.
