We've been thinking about moving, first we thought about the southern states, but recently we decide we wanted to move to Australia. There are my parents and five children. Two, soon to be three, of my sister are over eighteen, will my sisters be adults in Australia? I don't know if eighteen is the legal "Adult" age over there as well. And then we have our six cats, three dogs, one guinea pig and a rabbit. Is it possible to move all of them to Australia with us? And if it is, will they be held in quarantine? And for how long?
Also I've heard that you have to have a profession that is in need, dose that apply to all adults? Because my sisters are students and don't have training in really anything. My moms a stay at home mom and hasn’t worked in the last twenty years. My Dads profession is knife making, but right now he drives a truck. He can also do a lot of other things including Electrical wiring, furnace/AC installation, the operation and maintenance of farm and domestic equipment.

We've decided to move to somewhere either by Sydney or Perth. It really just depends on where we'll be able to find work.

it is not impossible to move the whole household over to australia but it would entail a HUGEcost and a very complicated applications and processes. the best is to talk to a migration agent. you can also visit this website http://www.liveinaustralia.com/ that will give you abit of an idea.
there are alot of visa options to migrate here to australia but be ready to expect a prolonged but temporary separation before you can ALL be here.

I don't know really about Australia but I do know that any time you move to an Island, your pets will face a quaratine.
I moved from mainland USA to Hawaii 14 years ago and my dog had to go into quaratine for 4 months some palces it is longer. I am happy to say that I have heard that Hawaii no longer requires a quaratine if you can show proper shot records, vet health check ect.
It cost me $850. dollars for the 4 months years ago plus all of the time off of work to visit him and staying in a hotel to be near him for 4 months as we were moving to a different Island after his release. It was very expensive and stressful for all of us.On the 2 month quaratine date I just broke down,I never thought I would get my dog out of that horrible place. I was paying to have my dog tortured it seemed,he was covered in ticks almost once a week even though I visited him everyday and bathed him several times a week. It is immpossible to keep them tick free when they are being held with over 3,000 other animals in small runs.Don't do it.

Unfortunately Rabbits are considered a pest here, its doubtful they would give approval. Cats, Dogs & Cavy would have to be quarantined in the US as well as Australia. Time of quarantine would depend if there were any outbreaks of infectious diseases in your area, we dont have many of your common diseases such as rabies, ect ect

Have you decided which State you would like to live in?

18yrs is considered adult in all States.

Check with immigration for entry requirement to live & work.

Just imagine seeing large flocks of wild Cockatoos & Parrots flying around .... Wallaby's can be seen close to the Cities as we have huge National Parks, some suburbs even have wild Koala colonies.

Good Luck

I bet many of them too would want to move to Australia. It probably would offer them better promise as individuals than their own countries. Question, why do they not flock there as much as they do to the US of A. The US gives even a much bigger promise than Australia does. It is known as the "Land of opportunities" to many hopefuls. It is closer, more advertised as an attractive destiny etc... Again, remember many do not meet the requirements to get a visa tu the US and I guess to Australia too. So its going to still be hard for them to come over there. And still if they did, some may come and take Australia to be a "Stop over" until their dream chance to go to the US comes true.

If I recall correctly, pets have to be quarantined for 13 months in England before going to Australia.

I am pretty sure you cannot bring rabbits to Australia. They have no natural predators there and I believe they are banned.
