Christians teach to turn the other cheek. True they often don't, but if they had been more willing to fight the Romans when they were getting started, the Roman empire would not have spread and brought even the illusion of unity to the world.
Buddhists would probably have spread into Occidental countries since they defend themselves by going to the leaders of the opposing armies, they would have attempted to circle around the armies and head straight for Rome to keep their own countries free of invaders.
The New World would have been settled peacably by the Vikings or Phoneciens,(Vikings were already trading in Canada) since the Pilgrims would not have come here to escape persecution.
Dang, there might be an alternative history story in here somewhere.

If religion never existed or if it was suddenly gone? If it suddenly disappeared, hey survival of the fittest, they would die out, we would prevail. Never at all? We would all be much more self sufficient, also the majority wouldn't be such sissies about issues that have nothing to do with them. Most of the issues the US is having is partly due to these people, The candidates are so busy arguing about things that have nothing to do w/ the big picture, gay marriage, abortion, war on drugs, Its nobody's business unless they are hurting others by their actions! But thanks to trying to get the religious vote and trying to look "nice" congress has not only backed themselves into a corner w/ the "go ahead and walk all over me" approach but have totally made the constitution about worthless by butting so far into people's lives we cant even send an email without being flagged. Thanks religious right for ruining a country.

Hey, hey...

Pagans were quite self-sufficient. They did farming and planting and fishing and hiking and hunting before any of the followers of the Abrahamic God did, thank ye very much.

Anyway.

Lack of religion would be... different, but similar, I guess. There'd still be a lot of the same issues that are here currently, i.e., Abortion, Gay Marriage, etc.

Far better off than we are now. How many people have died over the years because of religious strife? And, do I really need to say anything about Iraq? Or 9/11?

Did you know Islam encourages reasoning?

Islam is not a religion which hovers on blind beliefs. Instead, God tells mankind in several verses of the Qur'an to use their intellect, to use their reasoning power which they have been bestowed with (which differentiates man from other beasts) to try and understand the 'signs' in this world. This is possible only for ppl who give thought, who ponder.

Find below a few of the many verses where God tells mankind to use its intellect.

1)In the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of night and day, there are signs for people with intelligence: those who remember God, standing, sitting and lying on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth: Our Lord, You have not created this for nothing. Glory be to You! So safeguard us from the punishment of the Fire. (Surat Al ‘Imran: 190-191)

2) In the creation of the heavens and earth, and the alternation of the night and day, and the ships which sail the seas to people's benefit, and the water which God sends down from the sky – by which He brings the earth to life when it was dead and scatters about in it creatures of every kind – and the varying direction of the winds, and the clouds subservient between heaven and earth, there are Signs for people who use their intellect. ( Surat al-Baqara: 164)

3)Do you not see that God sends down water from the sky and by it We bring forth fruits of varying colours? And in the mountains there are streaks of white and red, or varying shades, and rocks of deep jet black. And mankind and beasts and livestock are likewise of varying colours. Only those of His slaves with knowledge have fear of God. God is Almighty, Ever-Forgiving. (Surah Fatir: 27-28)

If people are weak than they are stupid. Why can't we just live life and be happy with the people, animals, and things that make us happy. I do not think that my dog believes in God, but yet he is afraid of things such as thunderstorms. He wants to feel safe and live.

Somebody once said that if man doesn't have a god he'll make one up. Don't remember who it was, but it makes sense to me.
