"Despite the distortions of anti-Witnesses, throughout their modern history Jehovah's Witnesses have refused to claim divine inspiration or infallibility for their teachings. They have pointed to the bible (and not any particular translation) as the only inspired infallible means of knowing God's thoughts. For over 125 years, their teachings have been presented as merely the results of sincere bible research by imperfect but godly humans."
Here the WBTS claims to be the prophet of God......Both Watchtower articles claim opposing facts......
"In 1972 the Jehovah's Witness Watchtower claimed to be the prophet of God."
"IDENTIFYING THE "PROPHET" -- "So does Jehovah have a prophet to help them, to warn them of dangers and to declare things to come? These questions can be answered in the affirmative. Who is this prophet?...

..This "prophet" was not one man, but was a body of men and women. It was the small group of footstep followers of Jesus Christ, known at that time as International Bible Students. Today they are known as Jehovah's Christian Witnesses...Of course, it is easy to say that this group acts as a ‘prophet' of God. It is another thing to prove it." The Watchtower, 4/1/72, p. 197. (See Deut. 18:21)

First Quote form the Watchtower providid by Achtung _Heiss With a claim that Jehovah's Witnesses never claim to be God's prophet....2nd quote i found in a Watchtower publication.

Which is accurate?

Are there any accurate ones?

wow, so a JW comes to my door the other day to tell me all about the "Kingdom of God" and how I need to hear her message.

I said (honestly), you just interrupted our family devotions.

She misses the point, and tries to get me to allow them to have a Bible study at my place (how do I ALWAYS buy houses within a mile of the newest Kingdom Hall??)

So, I repeated taht we are already studying the Bible as a family just before she range the bell. I ask her if she minds, but I don't have time, the whole family is waiting on me.

She presses and tries to get me to take literature. I said "Lady, I'm trying to be nice. You've interrupted me, without an appiontment. I'm not interested in your literature."

So, she says "you don't have to get angry". I said "I'm not angry, but you're taking my time and keeping the rest of the family waiting. I'm being nice, but I'm NOT interested in Watchtower propoganda." She relaxes, but keeps trying to sell me.

So, I said "Mam, I'm being as gracious as I can. I don't believe in your theology. I won't read your false doctrine. Your leaders make false prophesies that don't come true. Your version of the Bible was written by a guy who didn't even understand how to translate the simplest Greek verse, much less Hebrew." I tried to maintain a smile, so that the people in the car wouldn't think I was just arguing.

I said "why would I want to take your literature?"

She had no answer. So, I said "have a nice day, I'm going back in and finish our Bible study, if you don't mind" She turned and walked down the steps then said as loud as she could "What's wrong with our theology?"

I smiled and said "Mam, neither of us have time to discuss it all." So, was I wrong?? The people in her car made scowling faces at me.

Wow, it is amazing what you can "prove" with partial quotes. Since you have the entire article from the 1972 WT, why don't you type the rest of it, like at the beginning of the article that explains what they mean by "prophet"... 'someone who represents Jehovah , his special messengers who warn of dangers to come and tell people about God's will '.... who fits that description today? Who glorify Jehovah's name? Who warn about the Great Day of God the Almighty? Who spend a good percentage of their time and energy conducting free home Bible studies?

If a person was to go through your posts, and just take out bits and pieces of what you typed, I'm sure they could "prove" some interesting things about you as well.

Even with the right teaching some are ever learning and never growing up. What is wrong? The Bible says: “The fool multiplies words” but “wise men store up knowledge.” There may be too much talking. Some people just like to talk. They like to talk more than listen. If one spends more time multiplying words than storing up knowledge, such a person may be ever learning but “never able to come to an accurate knowledge of truth.”( 2 Tim 3:7)

Since your so into quotes, I came across this one in Wikipedia under Jehovah's Witnesses:

"We are not prophesying; we are merely giving our surmises...we do not even aver that there is no mistake in our interpretation of prophecy and our calculations of chronology. We have merely laid these before you, leaving it for each to exercise his own faith or doubt respect to them."
Zion's Watchtower P. 4110 1908 "Yet Seven Years More"

As far as the 1972 Watchtower claim, you need to put the sentence in context with the whole paragraph to see what they were actually saying.

We do not expect perfection from imperfect people. People God personally chose in the bible made very serious mistakes. Such as King David, Moses. But they still had Jehovah's favor and those who went against them paid the price, such as Korah and all those who sided with him.

You have to go further than the WT publications. That is a private printing and some things might not be as accurate as we want them to be. Focus on what YOU believe, and always study more into ANY private publication you run accross.

many human beings and non secular leaders have misinterpreted the Bible. in addition they have replaced the Bible to in good condition what they choose it to declare. yet as for Jehovah Witnesses the Bible we use have replaced. we've God's holy spirit helping us constantly. there have been various Scriptures pronounced already so purely nonetheless i could upload a sprint greater. in case you may opt to appreciate greater with regard to the Bible you could constantly talk with between the Jehovah Witnesses on your section.
