I agree. If you think about it, some children can be born more agressive than others. But the aggresive type behaviored children from loving caring homes turn out fine, whereas the aggresive type behaviored children who are physically verbally or sexually abused will assert their aggresive behavior in negative ways. The same way that a pit bull can. Rotweilers, bulldogs, they are all like this. Just because they are aggresive dogs, people take advantage of that and beat them, tie them up and never feed them so that they will be mean dogs. So sad. Animal cruelty is never an option. Right on!

Anyone who loves dogs and has owned any breed would know that dogs behave in the way that you treat them in your house. If you hit the dog and abuse it...yes, well, some day it will turn around and bite you, even if it's a 'good-tempered breed'. Pit bulls, rotweilers, dobermann dogs, they are all given bad media press. Yes, the maulings have happened, but no need to blow them out of proportion.
It is horrible when you hear that a kid has died because of an attack from a big dog, but you don't know why it happened. It is all mixed up and no one really tries to uncover what the media is really trying to accomplish.
Sensationalism is all that they care about. The 'bad' breeds are actually some of the most loyal and intelligent in the canine world, not to mention excellent family dogs. They are only protective.
If a dog has been raised in a fighting rink, of course, the poor animal won't know anything but knowing how to fight. It's really sad and depressing when you look at it.
It seems incredible that everyone turns to religion when they are contradicted or in a bad dilemma with no solution. And I'm talking generally here. Sometimes you feel so upset that you actually want to laugh at them.
Breeds like the mastiffs and the Staffordshire dogs are misjudged. But, you can't change peoples' minds on this if they have it set. I just think that you have to grit your teeth and bear it, and if there is someone who is doing something wrong, try to stop him.
There isn't much we can do. There will always something dirty going on behind anyone's back. It's human nature. THAT'S really sad.

Thanks for posting this. They are an amazing breed and any breed has individual dogs that "break" and do something horrible but it just doesn't make the news like anything suspected of being "pit bull" or "pit bull type" or "mixed pit bull" dog DOES.
What people need to think about is that banning a breed will not stop with APBT and breeds like it. Many places are already gathering lists of dogs they think should be tacked on to this breed ban and some places have already banned several breeds! There's an army installation in America that has banned a number of breeds including huskies, APBT, any bulldogs, Chows, Akita's, Rottweilers, Dobermans and some other breeds.
People that love animals, if we don't stand up now to end breed banning, our dogs may be next on the list. (I have three: Aussie mix, Golden mix and APBT.)
It was a Labrador Retriever that tore the face off the woman in France. A Pomeranian killed an infant. Dogs of any breed can bite and do damage and can kill. Usually labs and lab mixes that kill aren't tallied and plastered all over the media. But if three deaths occur from a given breed or breed type (wide leeway here) and other breeds aren't under scrutiny for these stats, and 2,000 parents killed their children in the same time period, should we start forced sterilization of people? Which people do we start with? Should we start according to income? RACE?
Criminal record? Which crimes?
This is CRAZY!

it is precisely why i'm inquiring for a canines license contained in the U.ok! that isn't any longer the fault of the canines - EVER! that's the fault of the guy who holds the leash - -in case you prepare a canines to be nasty it is going to alter into nasty - in case you take care of any domestic dog, inspite of its heritage, some love, understand and kindness then you certainly've gotten a large canines - bypass any opposite direction it ought to at some point finally end up killing you yet this does not purely stick to to pits, staffs, toga's and so on and so on - you're greater possibly to be attacked by a Dalmatian or a Yorkie!!! The media interest in this problem is outstanding and its each and all the fault of the greater youthful fool who strangley believes that by getting a team or a pit on the tip of their arm is an extension of their penises!!! How very incorrect they are!!!

AMEN... I dont own one but they are at the top of my list of favorite dogs, with my own Dobermans and then Akitas, American bulldogs and of course Golden retrievers. They are far less "vicious" than many of the little **** rats that people carry around these days. And who is going to admit that their "suddenly vicious" pitt bull was abused or neglected or trained to be agressive? NOBODY and nobody's going to tell the media that their child was actually taunting or provoking a dog to attack. My best friend has two of the nicest dogs in the world well socialized with people ( she's responsible enough to know they shouldnt be around unknown dogs not because they will do something but because they potentially COULD) and they are unneutered male pitt bulls. Another good friend has the most outright VICIOUS dog I've ever seen, it's a wonder he's still alive given he's MAULED more than one person and at least 3 people he's bitten have had to have stitches... and he's a labrador, neutered, purebred with AKC registration. Has the media ever contacted them, did they bother when he put their oldest son who origionally owned the dog in the hospital? NO, he wasnt a pitt bull. And they still have the effing dog!
Grrr they're dogs, they are what you make them, PERIOD!

You know, look at the history of the pit bull.
Did you know the very first war dog was a pitt?
Did you know Hellen Keller's service dog was a pitt?
Did you know pitts are still being used as service and therapy dogs?
Did you know they are also drug sniffing dogs?
I thank it is so sad that people forget how much the Pitt has devoted to us.
Before the Pitt was given the bad rep. It was the rottie, boxer, and bull dog. Now they are among the favorite breeds.

In my opinion, dogs are just like people. They love being loved and pampered. They hate being abused and mistreated. Dogs are very loving and loyal. They only respond to how they are being treated. just like rearing our children. If you bring up your children with verbal and physical abuse, it is most likely they'd end up either in jail or under the ground! In the same manner, when dogs grow up with abusive owners, they'd end up being tagged as killer beasts.
My daughter once had a pitbull for her pet. And this pet grew sleeping beside her, being embraced by her everytime they were together. She fed her on time, bathe her regularly, pampered her and so on. And you know how the pitbull behaved? The pitbull was very loving, kissing my daughter everytime she goes home from school. Too bad, she died of flu. But, to-date, my daughter still remembers how very loving her pitbull was.

I due rescuses too and the bait dogs tear my heart out, This nice gentle dog is used to train fighting Pitts how to attack and kill. The bait dogs are still very gentle and loving dogs that will not fight back so they are safe for the killers to practice on. I wish more people would find out the truth about dogs in general. You can train any dog of any size to attack. But they don't usually do that without training, or mistreatment.

Face it - the humans are giving the breed the bad name.
Backyard breeders, steroid junkies and all that perceive cool.
They are sweet dogs just like the cocker spaniels of the 60's. the dobermans of the 70's and the rottweilers of the 90's.
All these breeds were popular and sometimes they would bite. But why?
It is us that is ruining them all.

I do dog rescue. I know about the breed. Some of the most loving, gentle, loyal friends out there. Even ones that have been used as bait dogs... Still shine brightly. Another example of how Man has completely fuc%$# something up. Extremely heartbreaking.
