Credit repair companies charge fees and make lots of promises. Sometimes they pull some slight of hand and make something disappear for a while but it comes back. If it's a legitimate negative entry, it will take 7 years for it to fall off your credit report.
You can get a free copy of your credit report from each credit bureau thru AnnualCreditReport.com -- it's the only place where you don't have to sign up for some monitory service.
Review your report and dispute and errors to the credit bureau. You don't need to send them certified -- use the online forms. The credit bureau will get back to you within 45 days.

If you want to dispute mistakes on your Equifax, Experian, or TransUnion credit reports, you have to call up which ever one has the mistake (or all three) and they'll tell you what you have to do. But you have to write out a letter, sign it and send it in and then they decide if it does fall under the reasons that it can be removed or not. The easiest way to do this is to sign up with a credit company and have them do all that. Most charge but it's easier in the long run. Myfico.com is one company and I know CapitalOne is sister companies with another one that does it. But most credit card companies can tell you what to do and even suggest a company to sign you up with to help. It takes forever and half the time, the negative mark doesn't come off even when it was not your fault. Oh, and if it was an actual business' mistake, you can have them write a letter and send it in to the 3 credit companies. That way is so much faster, and easier! Good luck though.

I have pretty bad credit as well but I have never consulted those people. I would think the most they can do is get un touch with the credit card companies etc. you owe money to and work out a payment schedule or something thereby removing them from your credit report. The only way you can really get rid of negative credit is to pay off your debts. I suppose if your debt is large enough, you can get it structured so it is more manageable.

Hello, first of all, if its sounds too good to be true, probably it is.
There are serious companies that can really improve your credit. i dot that for my clients without charging them because that way they can buy what I sell.
The tradelines will not be removed from your report, that is just not possible as I believe.
You can take certain actions that will improve your score, but that is it.
Even if you dispute a charge, it will still be there, just with a note saying: in dispute.
Do not go for a cheesy company, get someone serious like old republic.
Few tips: Keep your accounts to a balance 30 % of the credit limit.
Do not touch collections unless you are ging to pay them off in full.
No late payments (obvious)
if you payoff an account that is in good standing, do not close it, leave itopen so it will be reporting to the bureaus.
well, good luck.
