I heard Ventura City is a nice beach-side city. I live like about 1hr - 1 1/2hrs from there, but I've never been there. I'm planning on going there sometime during the weekend, so any ideas to where I should go?

I know there's a county fair going on right now, but I'm not interested in that. I'd like to go to where the Harbor Village is at, and is there a lot to do there? (if so, can you please give me some ideas?)

Oh and also, coming from 101N.. what's the best exit?

Thank you!

Well I don't know if it is right, but I have always considered Ventura as a suburb of L.A. where there is tons to do. There is an old Franciscan Mission there but I doubt that is going to keep you interested very long...Copestir and Obviousman are quite familiar with the area so maybe they will have some suggestions...All I know about it is they have a nice beach...Good Luck....

The Ventura County Fair ended several weeks ago.
It's not Ventura City; it's just Ventura.
If you surf, visit "the Point", which is located off of S. Figueroa St, next to the fairgrounds (Seaside Park).
Downtown can be fun. Get off at California St. and turn toward the hills. Main St will be two blocks up.
The pier is a nice walk, and you can fish without a license. There is also the Promenade, which runs west from the pier to the Point.

You know, Ventura is OK. Beach is nice enough, but we have a lot of beaches like that here in LA...

You don't mention what you are interested in, which makes it rather difficult.

If you want a small beach town feel, I highly recommend Carpinteria. Eat at a place on Linden Ave called The Spot, and explore all the little antique shops, surf shop, candy store, etc. It has a very nice beach, rated as one of the safest. Exit Carpinteria Ave, right on Linden Ave.

If you want a lot of stuff to do, then go to Santa Barbara. In addition to a very nice Beach, State Street has hundreds of shops, restaurant, and an outdoor mall. Just exit Garden St, turn right, then turn right at the beach (Cabrillo Blvd). Try to park by the pier (also fun to explore), at the end of State Street. You can jump on a shuttle bus which takes you up State Street, or just hang out at the beach.

Have fun!

Downtown Ventura has a very quaint area on Main St - full of curio and antique shops...The mission is closeby...There some good places to eat...The beaches are clean and relatively not too crowded.

I'm south of Ventura - in Thousand Oaks...Not knowing where you really want to go, take a look at google or msn.com maps...Either one will give you the best options for getting where you want to go.

Have fun
