show compassion, listen don't try to blow it off or make it seem small, when all of us hurt we hurt no matter what the cause, and we all feel it differently. Have compassion and usually if you just listen while they vent it is best. Don't say there are many fish in the sea this only negates their feelings.

well my friends keep saying stupid stuff cause i asked sum 1 out and he said no a couple of things that made me mad was "don't look behind u there he is" "he isn't good enough 4 u" i mean i asked him out if any one wasn't good enough it was me. "many fish in the sea" -- yeah but none of them would like me! "he doesn't mean it!" "he is just doing it cause of his friends" that is all i can think of right now oh and they kept saying " i want to just punch him in the face" witch was the worst because i didn't want him to no i was really hurt

What you should ? There's other fish out there somewhere, you just need to have the right bait. Or You still have a friend in me.
Shouldn't? It apparently had to happen, some time.
I had a feeling you were going to lose him/her.

you shouldnt meantion anyhing about realationships until your friend feels comfortable about the situation. to really help your friend keep he/she busy when hangin around and be carfeful of where the conversation may lead. if when talking and the subejct of realation does come up then its ok just stay within the boundaries that your friend is providing.hope i helped

I recommend not asking them can you go out with their ex! HA!
I would try to stay away from bringing up anything about their ex and try to talk about other things in life when you talk. However if the other person starts talking about their ex, just try to listen.

Don't say "I never liked liked him/her anyway' as it undermines the feelings he/she obviously had and sets a bad tone between the two of you if they were to get back together someday.

Don't say:

What are you doing New year's eve?

Who are you taking to the.....ball?

Wanna see a romantic movie?

How come your face is so tired looking?

Is anything wrong?

just don't be judgmental.. don't be bias or take sides.. and it's always safe to ask questions rather than say things...

that is if you're just a friend...

but if you're in love with her... then that's another story...

never say "i told you so" or "he/she wasn't good enough for you anyways" or "he was a loser" or "she was a slut/*****" or "there are plenty fishes in the sea" or "forget him/her"
