The scam company that I am dealing with is called United States Magazine Service in Lolo, MT. I have already contacted the general attorney in that area and sent a complaint form but so far I have not heard back from them. I also let my bank know about the situation that I am in so the company can no longer take money from my account. The only problem is, since I have called the company to let them know that I was refusing to pay, they left me with a cold note that I will be turned into collections in three months. It has now been 3 months and I have not received anymore bills but the magazines keep coming. Should I be worried? Any suggestions?

BTW, this company is already known by the BBB from having unsatisfactory rates and not replying back. there are many reports that this company rips people off and many are going out of their ways to try and stop it. But I recently read a posting that a collection company was calling some guy because he was in the same ordeal as me. I just don't know whether to be worried or not...

you can refuse the deliveries, or keep them and then send them back.. your may be ok if your bank put some kind of a freeze on that party from taking money from your account. but i would go as far as close it completely.

Find out if the company is part of the Better Business Bureau and then report them. The BBB will then investigate the claim. I had luck in report Earthlink to the BBB in Atlanta and got results within 30 days.

Good luck

Did you send them a written cancellation notice? If you have a paper trail of cancelling and disputing their charges, be sure to keep it just in case. But I think the it was just an idle threat.

I am surprised that you keep receiving the magazines. They usually just take the money and you never see any magazines. Are they even the ones that you ordered?

The Federal Trade Commission recommends reporting fraudulent and deceptive money making schemes to the attorney general's office in the state you live, as well as where the business practices. To report fraud directly to the Federal Trade Commission, call 1-877-FTC-HELP, or go to http://www.ftc.gov.
