Prolonged sitting and weight are factors to low back pain. Also, it could be the shoes you are wearing. Try to get up from your desk more than usual. I have low back pain due to an injury and I get up, walk around and stretch for 15 minutes per hour. Also, when you are done reading my answer, stretch by slowly trying to touch your toes, this will allow your muscles to stretch. You may not be aware of it, but your back is having spasms in the muscle. Try to take hot showers longer and use a massaging shower head. Also, apply ice packs for 15 mns while you are relaxing. There could be some swelling at the site of pain. Take advil or motrin for the pain.

Swimming also helps relieve back pain.
Get a massage and Physical therapy if your health insurance will cover it. Prevent from heavy lifting and constant stooping until you feel better.

If you've had MRI's with deep scan and dyes and, they showed nothing then, I would blame the muscles. At 225 your big and should have some excesses if you sit all day. Maybe start working out in the gym or join a health club, they're all over the country and you should be able to find one.

Because you have a job that requires you to sit a lot the muscles in your back may have become weak. Our bodies were made for walking and standing, so that when those muscles are not used they become atrophied. Stretching is good for flexibility, however it sound like a strengthening program needs to be added. also I am not sure but is your weight in line for a person your height? Just five to seven pounds of extra weight can cause back problems. I am not big on taking meds but I do know of a natural remedy that may be in your best interest. visit the links good luck

Well, I'm 6'4", 31 and 165lbs and just had spinal fusion from L3 to S1, two weeks ago. I would suggest getting a few different opinions from neurosurgeons. I lived with back pain for 10 years and found out I had 4 disc's disappear on me. Ugh!! Be careful and whatever you do, rotate from hot to cold on the back...it works. ;) Good Luck Bro!!

Thats good that you are exercising in the morning. It sounds as though you have some instinctive knowledge of what can make the pain go away. I would go to a massage therapist. Also doing situps will do the trick.

Your mattress may be the cause of it. I think that I would try that first before you came to other medical conclusions. If you could afford it. A temperpedic is about the most comfortable thing that i have ever layed on. They are expensive though. You may get by with another brand just as well though.

I've had lower back pain for YEARS... just recently they found out I have two degerative vertebrae but it's never showed up before in over 20 years of pain... stretching is good and anti-inflammatories...see if your doctor will prescribe some physical therapy...

If you have had no relief in 3 months, I would say it is long past time to visit a doctor of Chiropractic.. Is one thing they do treat well. Apparently the treatment you are receiving at this time is not producing any results.

My advise is to have your back checked by a back doctor or chiropractor.
You may need a better ergonomically built chair or a cushion to sit on to support your back. It's also advisable to have your keyboard above level to your elbow. If pain persists then it is a worker's compensation issue and should be brought up to HR.

It could be your mattress. A great mattress can make all of the difference! I had lower back pain and went to a chiropractor...completely helped!! I only went a few times.
