The luxury cruises are fantastic, but the run of the milll ones are really awful.
************************************
Edit:
In these regular cruises, you pay for nice food, a nice hotel room and beautiful scenery, but what you get is bad cafeteria food, (albeit it's all you can eat, all day long) a room the size of a hotel room closet and scenery that's like your local YMCA's pool.
You do get to go on islands in between long days/nights of being in your little prison ship, but you have to pay for lunch and a cab ride to a beach. By the time you find a nice place to spend your day, it;s time to get back to your prison to go off to the next stop. So your either in prison or in transit.
I got a thumbs down, but the person who answered that cruises are great because you can eat a lot and get so drunk you stumble back to your room, got a thumbs up!! lol... ;o)
YOU decide if eating a lot of really bad cafeteria food and getting drunk on a small floating motel with people you'd never associate with is fun, then spend your money on it. But if you want to spend the same money or less, get a nice hotel room on a beautiful tropical island of your choice, eat fresh local foods in nice restaurants and hang out by the beach or get to know the sites and sounds of your little paradise, then go to a real vacation for the same amount of money if not less and enjoy it a lot more.

It really depends on the type of cruise that you go and to what locations.
If your wanting to go on a beautiful cruise then locations such as the Caribbean, Mexico and Bermuda would probably be ideal.
Mexico is quite a popular cruise holiday cause there is more than 20 different beatuiful ports that you can stop of at.
There are are the cruises for the family, one of the most popular choice for that would be the disney cruise.
Heres a list of cruise ships that you can research
Carnival cruises
Disney cruise
Norwegian cruise line
Celebrity cruises
Holland America

There are alot of hidden cost. Read between the lines. Yes, there is lots of free food, but the alcoholic drinks are out of this world in price, plus they add gratuity to every drink. They also charge you for cleaning your 2x4 room which would take all of 5 minutes. They charge each person in the room if you are sharing so for instance if you are going with 4 all of you will have a charge for cleaning. We went with 8 of us and they even charged my 3 year old grandson for cleaning. All I'm saying is look at the bottom line. We also had to give them a credit card before we boarded. They gave a duplicate card to everyone except the 3 year old. After about 3 days our card had almost $800 dollars charged on it from the bars etc. Granted we had 4 teens with us that loved the night life and the credit card. Good luck.

Way fun - lots of food - ample bars, free shows cheap excursions and a great way to see the islands no matter what their politics. Have been on 10+ cruises over the past 15 years and never been disappointed. very few restrictions and some are clothing optional - just look for your preferred crowd and have fun!

i've only done one, but it was to a blast. Lotsa food (try to lose some weight BEFORE going on the cruise, so you don't stress too much over weight gain). And you can get as drunk as you want & you don't have to worry about driving, just stumble back to your cabin. The ship - even large ones - can rock constantly but you get used to it.
