I work in a bookstore. I love my job and I would like to continue what im doing. What kind of degree would I need to get in order to advance in my career? I would like to do something online if I can.

Business will be more valuable than literature. Literature will be more fun than business.

Business with a minor in Literature might be pretty interesting and apply to bookstore work.

Make sure that the school you pick has a good reputation. Almost every college in the USA now has classes online - you aren't confined to those heavily advertised online programs any longer.

If you're interested in the publishing business, you could go the English route and try and intern at major publishing houses. If you're more interested in the sales/business part of a bookstore, then a business major would be more suitable.
