It was a very routine extraction. Fully erupted, easily pulled, no problems. I'm just scared of getting dry socket or something terrible.... am probably just scaring myself.

I've never had a tooth pulled before.

the red blood clot if undisturbed will gradually go from a dark red, to a pinkish color, to white again and eventually the site will turn pink again.
Whatever you do don't disturb/lose the healing clot, or dry socket is just waiting to happen.

Unless you are over 50 years old I doubt that you have a dry socket. The site should look like a red hole. Just do what the dentist tells you and it will heal. And I find it interesting that you are familiar with dental terminology. Been looking it up on line?

The first sign of dry socket is PAIN. Hurts like a son-of-a-gun. You really can't go by how it looks.
