It all depends on your state..... I know where i live you dont have to be certified. But many parents are looking for someone that has training...... If you dont have training, check out the rules for your state.... you might beable to start out in your own home..... get experience, then move to a building and care for more children.

this link might help....

Call you local DCFS or CPS..... whatever your state calls it..... they can tell you what you need to do......or who to call

There's a lot of info you need to get through, good luck.http://nrc.uchsc.edu/STATES/KY/kentucky.htm
Don't be put off if you don't have formal training you can get the training you need and there are people who can walk you through the requirements so you don't get overwhelmed by all the regulations, etc.

Contact your state as there are rules and regs. As far as your building - contact your local planning and codes office (city or county) and they can direct you further. I don't think you need special training but if you have it - I would suggest CPR in the least - your services will be more marketable.

Yes you need special training and education, also you need to be state certified. Most junior colleges offer degress in this area.
