I had my wisdom teeth (4 of them) taken out about 3 weeks ago. I had slight discomfort in gums; first in the bottom left and then in the top right. However, the top right feels sore and hurts when I press it. It's also sore along the gumline and feels like a whole section back there is infected or something. I don't know, maybe it's not but it's located back where the upper and lower jaws connect (on my right side). So this discomfort caused me to open and close my jaw in an attempt to find out why/where the soreness came from. I even stopped wearing my retainer because of the fear that the wire that extends to my right upper area of my jaw was maybe poking the gumline, causing it to become sore. So I think somewhere along the lines, I dislocated my jaw because now it feels wierd to open my mouth since the left side, as well as the right feels out of whack. When i close my mouth, it feels out of place, and the annoying soreness still persists on my right side. So what could this be?

Your jaw hurts so much and you have so many problems because the dentist used traumatic technique and stressed out your jaw joints and other structures.
So what does this mean?
It means that these oral structures were traumatized during extraction.
What will happen as a result of having a traumatic extraction.
With time it will get better, but with the dislocated jaw you will need help.
