The Left Behind series is fiction. The bible doesn't indicate that the end of times will have the saved vanish while the damned stay and get marked by a powerful president-like/dictator antichrist.
There is much speculation of who the "beast" mentioned in Revelations is. I personally believe he is a symbol of sin - mankinds beast. When the Lord returns it will be swift, there will be no time between for the damned to be forgiven.

i will answer your question specifically in a moment, but first I want to correct some problems in the answers you have,
first, thes., teaches that if you have not accepted Jesus, having heard the gospel, when the rapture comes, you will not ever have a second chance.
next, thes. teaches that the rapture is to collect christians for the bema judgement seat of christ (from I cor chapter 3)
next. Old testiment prophesy, isreal was to preach the gospel, and user in everlasting righteousness (i.e., the kingdom) but they did not do that, remember the 70 week prophesy? Messiah is cut off at the end of week 69. Week 70 is disjointed from the first 69 weeks.
Next, go back to the new testiment. The bible says, when that which restrains sin is removed...remember that verse? People wrongly associate that to mean the Holy Spirit. Well the only thing that restrains sin is the christian living in the spirit. The Lord will remove them so that the people can have the world they want...
Hey everyone, you will get a world without christians
In Rev. chapter 2-4, you have the 7 churches representing what the churches will be in the years of grace. A sad lot really. from chapter 5, the coming of the 4 horsemen the church is gone? why you ask. Because christians evangelize and that is the job of the jew. God removes the christian and makes the jew finish the job they were suppose to do in the first place.
Now when Jesus does come back a second time, it is to kill every person who is not become a christian during the tribulation.
I know people are going to say, hey I thought he was a loving God. Well guess what, He is, you just were judged for your sin and thus you died.
the 1000 year kingdom of jesus will be established, a cop in the form of an angel or resurrected christian will be on every corner keeping order.
at the end of that time, satan is let loose for a time, those who have been restrained from turning against Jesus are allowed to, and then the white throne judgement.
Now, as for the left behind series, it is a fictional account of what the authors thought would happen. Of what I know about it, it concentrates on some people who were not christians who were left behind. they won't care, they are lost forever. The do not need to get the mark of the beast to be lost. They are already rejected.
to be very honest with you, I don't think you will even wonder about the people being taken. I dont' think that will ever be an issue.
about 30 years ago there were these old bible scholars who said that they understood from the bible that the military of the united states would be destroyed in the middle east. we did not have an army there and at the time, being in the service, I could not figure out how we would get an army there. most of our attention was on the trouble in the Korean and Viet Nam republics.
but what they said was this. The united states military will be destroyed so that Isreal has no one to look to for defense.
currently we are not meeting recruiting goals, and our military, the reserves and national guard is being devistated as soldiers vote with their feet.
if the rapture co-incides with the destruction of the forces we do have left as the men above described, (and that can happen, those weapons of mass destruction are there, they are just not called that), and at the same time there is a huge terrorist attack across the face of the united states and europe as some suggest, a few million bible believing, Jesus loving christians are not going to be missed.
besides, in the opening moments of the tribulation 25% of the population will be killed. Who is going to miss a few christians unless they don't pay their utility bill?
if this is not enough, email me and we can work through this one idea at a time.

First of all, I'm don't follow the school of thought that Revelation is prophecy and should be interpreted that way. But for the sake of your question ...
Nothing in The Bible fully supports the idea of a secret rapture that occurs before the tribulation period. We are never told that Christians will be spared the seven years of the anti-christ's rule. The concept of the rapture is less than two hundred years old.
All The Bible clearly states is that followers of the "beast" will be recognized by a mark in their hand or forehead. It has been "speculated" that everyone will be forced to take the mark, and if not they will either be imprisoned and killed, or they will not be able to purchase groceries, go to the doctor, etc. Let me reinforce that these things are not directly mentioned in scripture.
My personal opinion is that the mark of the beast in hands or on the forehead refers to "actions" or "thoughts/mannerisms".

We are all going to be here during that timeframe in the very near future. And everyone will have the choice to accept or reject the Mark Of The Beast.Christians will be translated or caught up in the air to meet the Lord[Raptured] at the last trumpet prior to the outpouring of the Wrath of God.

I cried and cried to the Lord. Night after night for many months that I didn't want to be left behind. He must have gotten tired of hearing it because he finally gave me a rapture dream. So I could move on to what he wanted me to do I supposed without the distraction of being left behind.... Anyway, I went [incredible 0 -35,000 feet in 7 seconds!] but my Son did not. The ones who will be left are unbeliever's who never accepted Jesus. Hard hearts and spirits. It will not be a good place to be. That's why we choose now while we have a choice.

when the Lord comes back, the dead will rise up first and then those that are still alive on earth will be changed in the twinkling of an eye ( the ones that are His children) and we'll go up to him on the clouds to live forever without anymore pain or heartache or sorrow...and if you're one of His, you wont remember anyone down on earth that went to hell ,for if you did then you would be sad and there's no sadness in Heaven...but the ones who chose not to follow him will be burned up with the earth and will go to hell waiting for the judgement...this will be their first death, then after judgement the sinners will be cast in the lake of fire which will be the 2nd death....but they dont die, they just burn forever , but they will remember everything and every time they had a chance to get right with God...that would totally suck huh?

The American Veterans Administration recognized twenty-nine religious symbols that are authorized to stand above
American Deceased Military for the remaining eternity. As
an American vet' I've obtained one such bronze marker for
my final rest. I'm in very good company. I'll be denoted as
a Pagan but once dead I'll be truly safe from a piece of work like this question source (assuming her ilk don't stroll amid
us after sunset with sledge hammers to 'mark' us anew).

"But we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, shall not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the archangel's call, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first; then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet The Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with The Lord." (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 RSV)
1 Thessalonians 5
1Now, brothers (and sisters), about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
4But you, brothers (and sisters), are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. 5You are all sons (and daughters) of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 6So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled. 7For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. 8But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. 9For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 10He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. 11Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and your Savior then, please don't worry. You are OK.
