No, you can't do that unless you want melty ice cream!
The ones at Cold Stone are seriously refrigerated from under the darn things; besides your marble or granite slab you'll need a specially designed cooler!
Good luck with that.
Sorry!

Marble Slab For Candy Making

Besides the grave marker companies, you can also try a vendor who makes marble and granite counter tops for kitchens.

To cool the marble, get some dry ice (can be found at some grocery stores, or outdoors stores) and put the stone in a cooler, with the dry ice on top. Let it chill for a few hours, if you can. You could even put the marble slab in the freezer overnight prior to the troop meeting.

Keep on Scoutin'

Yes. Any home improvement center should be able to furnish you marble these days, from the sink cutout for a marble countertop.

You can get marble slabs at most cooking supply houses as well.

But while a marble slab is useful when you're making candy, especially fudge, I can't imagine what you'd be using it for in making ice cream.

I live in Austin, TX...right down the road from you...and there are way too many Cold Stone Creameries/Marble Slabs and only a handful of Baskin Robins. If I were you I'd go with Baskin Robins...they have AMAZING flavors. They are always creative and change seasonally. Gives you a wider customer base.

Try a kitchen supply store. They actually have kits with the marble slab and the ice cream scoops shaped like paddles. I think I saw one a Linens n things.

any place that carves grave stones can get you a slab of marble. Though realistically a slab of polished granite would probably work just as good, but be much cheaper. Also a top notch kitchen counter place would have granite or marble you could probably buy. I have a piece of black polished granite I use as a cutting board, it was a free sample from a kitchen cabinet place.

Get a marble tile from Home Depot. That is what my family use. My sis, my daughter and I each have one. We got them on sale for about 4 bucks too.

My mom went to Lowe's and bought a couple marble floor tiles and she uses them as cutting boards. They would probably work for want you want, too.
