1] get a trim every three months MINIMUM, to prevent split ends.
2] wash with shampoo and conditioner formula for your type hair, as often as necessary.
3] Comb hair first. Wet in shower. Apply about 50 cents worth size of shampoo. Scrub head with pads of fingers. Do not pile hair up on head - will make tangles. Do not scrub strands of hair - just scalp/roots. Rinse thouroughly.
4] Apply 50 cent size conditioner. Apply to HAIR, not scalp - it doesn't need conditioning. Work through ends of hair, gently.
Rinse thouroughly.
5] Squeeze hair gently to get major water out, then wrap in towel. Don't rub it dry - wet hair is fragile, and will split and break.
6] scrub all combs, brishes, etc, at least once a month with shampoo and a nail brush or old toothbrush.
7] Comb out tangles. Never brush wet hair.
8] Use a thermal protector when you blow dry your hair - don't blow dry all the time.
9] comb your hair in am, maybe lunch, dinner, and bedtime or shower time. I rarely brush my hair.
10] deep condition hair once a month - Pantene and neutrogena both make good deep conditioners.
11] if you ponytail it, use the special bands [ not elastic ]available in the hair accessories aisle - Goody makes some.

First of all I think it is great you are asking for advice from women...not many men know how to ask or take womens advice...Anyway here goes: first keep the ends cut on a regular basis, makes hair grow and it looks nicer longer, Next, don't over wash your hair, a lot of people think they have to wash their hair daily....worst thing for your hair, unless you are a frybaby at Mc D's and oil is depositing daily in your hair or you sweat profusely. Twice a week is a good rule to follow unless you get some dirt in your hair or get a swirley from friends...hehe. Hair spray leaves a film on your hair that attracts dust, etc. like a magnet, unless you are going out for a special event and need your hair to look neat. Next leave the blow drying out, let it dry natural and add a little gel or mousse that after combing gives volume and shine. As for brushing, it is a good way to keep hair cleaner during the day, it removes dust, dirt that are in the air and deposits on hair but remember use a natural bristle brush. You can buy a good brush at Salons and for a value Walmart. To keep your hair smelling nice for those closeup moments, spread a little aftershave or cologne (or spray your brush) on it with your hands. And last but not least, get a hair cut that is right for your face shape, you can still have long hair but get it styled so it is attractive looking. Not everyone looks good in really long hair, makes their face look long and their chin pointed like the wicked witch of the north on the Wizard of Oz. Hope this helps and it takes a real man to ask for advice, and a really great man to take it....Elle

Lol calm down. Ok,I'll answer each of your questions.

Split ends--Split ends are when the very ends of your hair start to split and they usually turn a silvery color of lighter shade when you look closely at them. And lots of times they do tend to look frizzy at the bottom of your hair because the bottoms splits into 2 pieces. Trim them every 4-6 weeks to keep healthy.
**Hairspray won't get rid of split ends**

Brushing--Ok, I have long hair and I brush it twice a day.One in the morning, and once at night. After you get out of the shower or bath, use a comb (widetooth preferably) to brush through your hair. Hair's most fragile when its wet and will break much easier.

Water, Showers, and Baths for Hair?--Ok, Shampoo and condition your hair every 2-3 days. And I like to deep condition once a week to keep it healthy. When your rinse your hair for the last time, use cold water.(as cold as you can stand in my opinion),it will close the "shafts" of your hair for healthyier, smoother hair.

Blow Dryers, Straighteners, and Heat--Ok, yes, heat is bad for your hair is applied directly and too often without protectant. It'll give you split ends after a while and for lots of people it'll start to dry out their hair.

...Ok,I believe I answered all of your questions! Email me if you wanna know anything else!

loll, yer hair dryers r bad for your hair depending on how hot it is.
split ends is wen a peice of your hair has split into two or more peice..usually at the tips of your hair and usually the only way to get rid of them is to cut them and to prevent them is by not starightening or using the hair dryer to often. and if you have frizzy hair their like a moistruizer or shampoo/conditioner you can buy usually it will say frizz control somewhere on the bottle and it may also b a creme you can leave in your hair that jst stops it from frizzing:)

You should cut or trim your hair first....Try combing instead of brushing it to prevent it from puffing up and damaging your hairs roots......Depending on your hair type, if you have fine to medium hair, try putting mousse on your hair from frizzing....Thick hair, try using pomade......

DON'T use pantene. your hair might seem nice for a month or two, but once you stop using it your hair is disgusting.
