Could be an indicator of arthritis but the only way to find out for sure is to have this evaluated further by your doctor to see what they think is going on.

Sounds like arthritis to me as I too have creaky knees. Have you tried Glucosamine? and it works even better in hot milk drinks. You know when I am going up the stairs, because my knees creak more than the steps do.

Could be a lot of things. overweight, arthritis, old age, joint and cartilage damage. If you have insurance and it is bothering you alot the best thing to do is to get and xray and an MRI to pinpoint the problem. The xray is for the bones and the MRI is for the connective tissue. I had a knee that was bothering me and the x ray was negative. I never ended up getting the MRI, but I bought a knee wrap support and after a few times of wearing that during it eventually heal. They really do help stabilize the joint, improve blood flow to the joint, and kind of hold everything together. See a doctor though.

I had creaky knees a couple of times.
Went to the Dr. and he told me to take
fish oil and my knees have never been
better.
