He should be getting glucosamine and chrondoitin added to his food as well as Ester C. These will help him quite a bit. For anytime the pain seems really bad, it is safe to give him a baby aspirin. NEVER Tylenol or Advil........They can be fatal to a dog.

If your dog has pain in his back, Veterinarians would be the best to ask, don't give your dog any human medications or home remedy's, If the back pain is going to get worst,and it is incurable ,get some real pet meds, if there is not any relieve, and the dog gets worst don't keep the dog and let it go through more pain ,or suffer, do what the vet says even if you have to go to the last course of action, which i don't even want to mention

Have her/him check w/ vet to see if there is a special cream to ease the pain. Or some medicine to take care of a root of the problem. The vets your answer

Your friend should buy her dog an orthopedic dog bed which are generally moderately expensive between $40 and $100 dollars. I would suggest buying it at Drs. Foster and Smith.com

My sisters dog has back and leg problems. She found a Vet that gives acupunture (needles) treatments. And the dogs seems so much better. I know its a little expensive, but our precious pets deserve the best we can do for them.

also YUCCA helps with arthric pains - you can get treats for older dogs that help as well
