I know someone who was shot last year in May in the leg from a robbery becuase they didn't have anything to give the robbers. The person has a entrance and a exit wound from the bullet. The bullet also broke the bone. Now the person is fine and they want to join the military. I want to know will they accept this person despite his gunshot wound to leg that is healed?

The process is called a MED READ for the Army. Bring all medical documents pertaining to the gunshot for review. 3 pages or less normally has a 3-4 day turn-around, any more takes more time for the review. If the review is completed, the MEPS Doctor can approve it and all is well. You must take the ASVAB before you can process for the physical, so you will need to discuss everything with your local Recruiter beforehand. Good luck!!

Best and really the only way to get any real answer is go talk to the local recrutor. They will be able to tell the person yes or no.More than likely if they doctor has gave them a release from there care with full recovery and no lose of any use of the leg then they have a great chance to get it.

The person needs to show med docs to the recruiter. He would send them to meps and the Dr will determine if your friend is good to go. It shouldn't be a problem unless your friend has a lot of hardware to repair their leg.

Only the Doctors at the MEPS can answer that.

They would have to be cleared by the Doctors at MEPS, and might require a waiver. But it is possible.

he will be determined fit or unfit when he does his meps physical, if he can pass all of the physical requirements then he is good to go, although he may need a waiver.

It will be up to the military medical people to define if his leg is ok.

Yup,

They will evaluate him first though, to ensure that he is physically fit for combat.

if they can pass the physical I don't see why not, but as long as he wasn't charged with any crime he shouldn't have to worry. and here's hoping he COMES HOME SAFE. :-)
